AFC/NFC Championships Discussion

Baltimore vs. Pittsburgh -- Philadelphia vs. Arizona

AFC: Beating a team 3 times in 1 season is extremely rare. Baltimore is playing outstanding football. Flacco has found a passing game, the running game is solid, and the D is incredible. On the flip side, Pittsburgh is healthy, the running game looked incredible, and the D is as solid as ever.

AFC Predictions: The only way either team cracks the 20 point mark is with defensive TDs. I feel that Pittsburgh has more offensive weapons, enough to put a couple points on the board, which might be all it takes. I like Pittsburgh here, 16-10.

NFC: Is Philly this year's NYG? Maybe. They still have a test against a revived AZ team that is just destroying defenses. Not to mention, AZ has found a D of their own. Philly needs to rattle Warner early, keep Fitz under control (he is going to make plays) and shut down the AZ run game just like Philly shut down the NYG and Minnesota run games. Philly shouldn't have a problem putting points on the board, but they also have to minimize the big plays of AZ.

NFC Predictions: Hard not to like Philly here. But that is problem Philly's biggest problem, overconfidence. If they come ready to play, it should be a solid win. I like Philly 30-24.

I'm thinking that the Steelers and Eagles advance.

I like Flacco (UD represent!) and I think he has been amazing as a rookie but this is where his ride ends this year.

You have got to be one of the best Monday Morning QB's I have ever met. Even though my picks suck, you were the one that went out a week before I did in the pool. You picked the Eagles.

I see an all PA Superbowl with the Steelers winning it all.

The reason I pick the Steelers over the Ravens is because I just cant convince myself a team with a Rookie QB and a Rookie headcoach can pull it together to beat a team as solid as the Steelers.

I take the Eagles over the Cardinals because the Eagles are playing solid solid football and they have Asante Samuel. However it could be a match if the same Arizona defense shows up that showed up in week 1 of the playoffs.

1st, I didn't say your picks "sucked." I made the comment after you called the Eagles "beagles" and screaming for a Giants repeat. More of a little trash talking after the Eagles won (the little note that I was an Eagles fan).

2nd, I did agree with Anton that the Cards pick (them loosing) was the way to go. However, the -8 pts Carolina was giving was alot given how the Cards offense was playing. So I wouldn't have bet that game. Period.

3rd, Didn't have a lot of options in the pool. I didn't take advantage of the buy-in option during the 1st 8 weeks (like Anton and Aces did). The pick for me was the Eagles. They shit the bed. I am still shocked that the Eagles made the playoffs (more shocked that both Chicago and TB lost the last week).

Yes, you went out after me, so I guess that makes you a better football prognosticator than I.

4th, if you are still even reading, i've been called a lot worse than a "Monday Morning QB." Don't know if that was susposed to be a shot at me or what. If it was, then you got your opinions and I have mine. I enjoy Football, I like placing small bets to make games I normally wouldn't watch fun. Never said I was an expert.

My "shot" at you was more of a after talking some trash about the Eagles and the Giants repeat.

I agree.

Although I must say I was completely amazed to see Philly whoop the Giants. I was wrong about Baltimore / Tennessee, wrong about Arizona / Carolina, wrong about Philly / NY and right about Pittsburgh / SD.

It's years like this that convince me that I don't know jack-shit about football.

I think maybe I need to watch MORE of it.

Well, like RKC/Anton were saying, you wouldn't have picked Carolina to win. I didn't like the line, but still thought Carolina would have won.

I think what is shocking about Philly is putting together 3 solid games in a row. They didn't do this all year.

Nobody thought the Giants would completely no-show.

Baltimore didn't have a passing attack until the playoffs.

So to say you know nothing about football is false. It's been a wild playoff season. Been fun to watch.

Ah....you misunderstand, RH.

That is known as "self-depricating humor" i.e. "poking fun at myself".

And that is what is so goddam great about the game of football, you never really do know who is going to win.

I can't WAIT to settle in with a beer and a bag of pretzels this weekend.

YAY FOOTBALL.

YAY.

Going to be a GREAT weekend for football. Even as a die-hard Eagles fan, I cannot wait to watch that Baltimore/Pitt game.

That's a really tuff one. Taking the Giants last week is easy. There are so few people giving AZ a chance. But the way things have been going, it's making me nervous. I need a puppy.

The hell with it. I am a betting man. So, that being said. I will take the RED Birds to beat the Beagles for a fiver. First to bite, gets it. It's time the Beagles fall anyway. No, I am not starting any shit here. Bring it on. Oh, please let it be Steve. Don't bite just yet Anton.
