Golf: Vegas, from the bunker for bogey

Hi,

As if I don't have enough hobbies and half-finished projects on my punch list, the upcoming warmer days have got me thinking about golf and cigars with some friends. I haven’t owned clubs since I was sixteen and come to think of it, they were made of real wood.

Before the salesperson at [insert local super-sized golf warehouse here] sees me coming a mile away, could any BOTL’s recommend something?

1. A brand name that would last until I’m buried.
2. Would be used once a month for six months.
3. A price point that would not cause the bank to phone me thinking it was fraudulent purchases or theft.

This gang is down to earth; the brand of the clubs could not matter less.

I’ll try craigslist and ebay before I head to the store. I just wanted to get some education or thoughts. Is $500 or less out of the question?

Thanks!

Titleist

Titleist, Callaway, Taylor Made

Titleists, Try ebay on a set that includes pw-3 irons

I put together a set using ebay and http://www.callawgolfpreowned.com. Paid much less than if bought off the shelf.

I play Callaway irons and fairway woods, but love Taylor Made drivers.

Hit 'em straight!!

Titleist

Titleist again (once you start you can't stop)

3. A price point that would not cause the bank to phone me thinking it was fraudulent purchases or theft.

Buy a set of irons about 2-3 years old used for $225-275 and regrip them. Then take the other $200-250 and buy a big driver (big sweet spot, they are easier to hit)

Thanks!
Then take whatever you have left and get a series of 5 lessons.
