Ghent-Wevelgem

Great race to watch, finishing order:
Houshovd Credit Agriccole
Kopp Gerolsteiner
Petacchi Milram
Pozzato Quick Step
Hincapie Discovery

Boonen was just riding along and missed the decisive break but it didn't look like he was doing anything other than just riding today with his sights on Sunday. Milram drove the peloton hard in the last 20K but with attacks from Roesens then Pozzato coming hard they fell apart just before the finish allowing Hushovd to come through with the victory. Next up Paris-Roubaix

Re: Ghent-Wevelgem

The one day classics can be great. I have to check out Cycling.tv again. I know they have started a pay service for everything.

If we do not get a pool going for the classics, we should efinately try to get one going for the Giro or Tour. Could be a lot of fun!!! I am sure there is a stie that runs a fantasy league for free that we can get into.

Was this on OLN? Man, I can't believe I missed it. P-R and Liege are my favorite classics. Thor is a powerful rider.

No it was on cycling.tv http://player.narrowstep.tv/default.aspx?player=cycling
see if that works. P-R will be on Sunday live and now they have the Giro live.

Name the price for the race I'm game if you can figure out a fair way to weight it against the Quick Step boys. Gosh they are just looking so strong everybody seems to be just riding for second place. Now L-B-L is a different story that one is wide open imo.

Hincapie has to win one of them, some time. L-B-L and P-R are both very hard to predict as they become "each man for themselves", it's very difficult to carry a leader to the finish. I admire the most the guys who owned the classics like Moser and Kelly; they didn't need a huge team to deleiver them.

Iadmire guys like Merckx, Coppi and Hinault, who could dominate both the classics and the Grand Tours. You wonder if we will ever see a see another cyclist who is able to do that in our lifetime. It seems everyone is a specialist. Now with the Worlds at the end of the season, you even have specialists for that.

Re: Ghent-Wevelgem

We'll see guys who win a couple of classics and maybe two grand tours in one season; but they'll be under such anti-doping scrutny and found guilty one way or another. Look at Heras & Pantani... Vino, Ullrich, Basso are all capable of an epic season. You're right about everyone being specialists. The sprinters are unlikely to win a grand tour, but have 20 wins in one season; stages, classics, and crits.

I hope to see Vino win the TdF. He's got the skills, and now is not under Ullrich's shadow. Obviously, most people have it down to Ullrich or Basso. I didn't like CSC's decision to abandon the yellow jersey in TTT last season. Such a dishonor to the yellow jersey.
