15 Straight For The Braves?

The 2006 baseball season has just begun and there has been many people talking about the NL East. People are saying that the Braves' 14 year run as NL East champs is done. They say that its going to be the Mets because they look good on paper. Who do you think is going to win the NL East this year?
If you ask me anyone who looks good on paper sucks. The Braves are going to do it again. Cox will make a sick decision and it will give them everything they need to win.

Or to lose. I have always maintained that the Braves have won, in spite of Cox. He is, without a doubt, one of the best managers of all time during the regualr season. But, when it's a 5 or 7 game series, he blows! He has always been too much into the lefty/righty match-ups, IMO. I guess losing in the playoffs is much better than losing 100 games a year, like they used to do.

With that said, I have always been a Braves fan, and I can't pick against them until they don't win the East. The Mets will do nothing, again.

I have to agree on the post season problems. I think the problem lays more in the GM who seems intent on trading off anybody who's contract is up for some unknown or farm system hot-shot. He has killed the influence of the vets help on the rookies in the clubhouse by constantly losing good players we then have to compete against. I think that really hurts, come play-off time.

On the bright side, the Braves are off to a good start this season.

Dark side? I am still waiting for the pitching staff to colapse, lot of unknowns there, plus Smoltz, who is always one pitch away from a career ending injury!

Re: 15 Straight For The Braves?

Cox wins the division because he outmanages the rest of the division. He wins with good pitching and less talent. The pitching is shakey thus far so lets see how they do without Mazzone. I hope they do it and think they can, but its iffy this year (but it was even more iffy last year).

Smoltz and the bullpen BLOW so far. Francouer has been figured out. They have some work to do, but it looks like Andruw Jones is going to finally be what everyone expected him to be (40 HR - 120 RBI / year) and Renteria was a great pick-up and off to a hot start. The Cards gave up on him too soon. Andruw and Edgar are 1 -2 in RBIs in the majors so far.
