Sushi, Stars, and Cigars

So chronologically, it was actually Sushi, Cigars, and Stars, but I think the first way sounds better. Tonight me and my Dad headed down to Dallas to catch Game 3 of the NHL Western Conference finals in person, which was pretty great by itself, but we also found this great sushi place near the arena as well as this cigar and rum bar (called Havana Social Club) that I had never seen before. Talk about a great find! I've been to the arena several times but I had never seen it before. I don't know if it's new or not, but it was just sort of nestled in the middle of Victory Plaza.

So we enjoyed some really great sushi as well as some significantly marked up cigars and drinks ($12 for a LGC #4? Are you kidding?), but we were both still in great good moods and ready for a great hockey game. But then the game started and the Stars looked like they were playing catch up with the Red Wings for most of the game, then at the start of the third period the entire team looked like it tripped up and Detroit just ran away with it. And as luck would have it, I sat next to two big Detroit fans. By the end of the night, I was in the sort of mood that makes you want to roam the streets looking for somebody to beat up.

I know that overall it was a good night, but I'm still in that "A Clockwork Orange" type of mood. Go Stars?

I'm what you might call a fare weather hockey fan. Being from Texas, we watch football....nuf said. BUT!...when the play-offs start it's like a whole new sport and I'm usually right there or at least in front of the TV. This has been a tough one for the Stars and they were never expected to get past the Ducks or Sharks. I just have to say that even though we're down 0-3, those are some damn good games.

Agreed...it's tough to watch them this series, but they've played with so much heart, it's definitely something to be proud of.

I recently noticed that cigar bar as well, though haven't been in there. It's so small, it's easy to miss it. Thanks for the info on the cost of cigars...! I figured prices would be jacked-up pretty well.

Check out my review on Havanna Social Club. We went there a couple of months ago and we thought it was just so nice. The owner treated us well and we sat up stairs in the member's lounge.

By the way...they make killer Mojitos.

"You gotta act like you want to live — that's what it is," Dallas coach Dave Tippett said. "If you think this thing is over and you act that way, it's going to be over."

Hope Dallas wins tonight.

Dallas' power play wakes up! 12:54 left in the third ...

Dallas realizes that they have to put someone in front of Osgoode ... score!

Hope you were able to make the game, Matt!

I wasn't at this game, but I was able to enjoy it a local bar and yes, it was an amazing game. I think the Tippett quote is great and I'm extremely glad they didn't get swept.

Oh and Mel, I knew I should've ordered the Mojitos! We ended up going with some other drink that I can't remember, and it was only so-so.

Exactly. It's tough being a B's fan and here in Atlanta the Thrashers are not any better. I can't win following either team.

Atleast the Celtics made it to the next round.
