2 Years ago I had 2 tickets to a couple of Sabres games. One against the Rangers and one against the Kings. My daughters were 12 and 14 at the time and I took them each to a game. Neither one was really keen on going with Dad. Sabres won both games 6-2 and both kids had the time of their lives! Good times.

1984-USA Gold Medal game Greatest non-professional team: Jordan, Ewing, Mullin, etc.

2000- Lakers vs Blazers Game 7 Lakers come back from 15pt deficit in the 4th quarter.

2006-Rose Bowl USC vs Texas (Upset of a lifetime.) Great win for the Longhorns.

I really need to go to more games!!

1972 - Steelers/Raiders - The Immaculate Reception by Franco Harris

1972 - Pittsburgh Pirates/NY Mets - Clemente (my all-time fav) collects his 3000th hit in what was his final at-bat before dying in a plane crash later that year.

1997 - ASU/Nebraska - Jake Plummer and the Sun Devils shut out the unbeaten National Champions 19-0.

Wow David those were some great games. The Steelers/ Raider game I remember like it was yesterday. I was on the phone with my buddy(a Steeler fan) giving him a bunch of crap about the Steelers losing the game when the very play happened. I caught poop for that until graduation.

Re: most memorable sporting events you ever attended

Wow some great stories.
For me I would have to say it was the 1975 World Series Red Sox vs the Cincinnati Reds.
Nothing since has come close for me. What a great Reds team (sorry StogieFanatic) Pete Rose, Jhonny Bench, Joe Morgan, Tony Perez, Davey Conception, George Foster, Ken Griffey Senior. Great Red Sox team as well. I will always remember wondering how all the streets around Fenway emptied so fast after the last game. Many years later I ended up living in Boston and Fenway is a jewel of a park. I hope they don't do something stupid there and tear it down.

Number two would be the Bengals, San Diego Chargers playoff game before the first SuperBowl of the two the Bengals lost to San Francisco.
It was 40 below zero at Kick-off. I had on about 30 layers topped by a black snow modile suit with orange striped sewn on it and I was still freezing.
The Chargers looked miserable and then the Bengals trotted onto the field with their summer jerseys tucked up under the pads. Anthony Munoz and Max Montoya! What a great game under miserable conditions!
Thanks for jogging the memories!

2001 Pepsi 400

This was the 1st race at Daytona since Dale Sr's death. Me and the wife went down. It was my first race to attend at Daytona, been to Atlanta, and Talledega. Anyway, our seats were at the exit of pit row where Dale Jr ws pitting. It was a helluva race and of course, Jr. won. We happened to be in the tri-oval area after he came into the grass and celebrated with Mike Waltrip. You could feel the electricity at the track !!!! It was awesome.

Re: most memorable sporting events you ever attended

A couple more from recent history:

2001 Game 2 WS - Diamondbacks/NYY - Ray Charles singing "America the Beautiful". Probably the single most electrifying moment I have ever experienced. The video doesn't do it justice. Everyone was in tears.

http://mailafriend.guide.real.com/in...ct%3dgen_video

2001 Game 7 WS - Diamondbacks/NYY - Our hometown local Jesse McGuire plays the National Anthem on his trumpet. Absolutely stunning performance, followed by a flyover of a B2 bomber out of Nellis AFB. This is just never done and some major strings were pulled to accomplish it. And then, with the Dbacks down, the crowd losing hope, a freak mini-monsoon starts kicking up the wind and light rain begins to fall. You could feel the energy rise as we began to feel something special is going to happen. What an unbelievable ending!

2004 Brewers vs. Pirates, one of the Pirates players hit the Italian sauage with a bat during the 7th inning sausage, it was crazy!

Re: most memorable sporting events you ever attended

Well, I've seen/been to several memorable sporting events. Use to be able to meet football players every summer at camps but the most memorable would have to be my sons first baseball game.

A soldout football game at the Univ. of Tennessee. I didn't know how how orange 107,000 folks could be. Nothing else like it.

Re: most memorable sporting events you ever attended

great question!

Leonard Hearns 1 simulcast at the Astrodome.
Rockets Celtics game in the 81 finals when Bird jacked in that shot from behind the basket in the corner to pretty much break our backs.

Re: most memorable sporting events you ever attended

on occassion my alma maters football team has a pretty good year. that being said it was the year Oklahoma State went 7-4 beating both big red machines in the big XII at home oklahoma (i hate sooners) and nebraska (cornhuskers have classy fans) after both games the goal posts on both ends came down. what made it even better we had good seats and i got to watch the game with my son who was 5 at the time.
