USC goes 0-13 in 2005...........

It looks like USC is soon to be under NCAA investigation and there is a possibility that they may have to forfeit all games that Reggie Bush played in while his parents were "renting" a $750,000 home in SoCal. This includes the entire 2005 season and possibly, depending on how technical it gets, the last two games of 2004.

(There's more out there, but I'm too lazy to find the links .)

I hope the make them forfeit that 2004 championship and then maybe Auburn can get a share of it!

Rules are rules. Which rules should Bush be able to break? Just him, or should everybody just thumb their noses at them? The NCAA has enough problems with idiot punks who know they will be paid in a year or two. Won't it be great to show them that they can all break the rules with impunity.

Agree with Sean on this. Equal enforcement of the rules is needed. He might be a great player, but if it is all true and he did not play by the rules, then he should forfeit everything. Sucks he might bring the rest of the team down with him.

From what I read it is possible they could lose their conference title, but more likely that if anything happens it would be Bush losing his school records. As always happens with big name athletes I'm sure "nothing will be found"

NCAA may be the least of his worries. From what i'm hearing now, the agent and marketing team he "promised" his services to in exchange for the "free rent" etc is looking to sue him for fraud....stay tuned, this might get interesting.

Caravantes has tried to downplay his connection to New Era Sports & Entertainment, which is at the center of a controversial arrangement with Bush's family.

San Diego attorney Brian Watkins described Caravantes as a New Era Sports employee in both an e-mail and a letter sent in early March to Atlanta lawyer David Cornwell, who represents the Bush family.

Reached late Monday afternoon, Caravantes said he was never represented by Watkins. He deferred further comment until his attorney, Tom DiPaolo, would be available to advise him.

Caravantes is under investigation by the NFL Players Association for his role in New Era Sports' dealings with the Bush family. And the Pac-10 has said it will investigate if any NCAA rules were violated when Bush's family lived in Michael Michaels' Spring Valley house while Bush was still playing for Southern California last season.

Cornwell declined to comment.

Watkins has said he is preparing to sue Bush's parents for fraud and will seek $3.2-million.

He said the plaintiffs will be Michaels and Michaels' partner, Lloyd Lake, a documented gang member serving time in prison for a probation violation.

Meanwhile, USC coach Pete Carroll said he doesn't believe the Trojans will have to forfeit games or lose a national championship.

"With the little bits I have, no. I'm not concerned about that one bit," Carroll said. "I'm more concerned with helping the process and making sure everything comes to the front. I'm confident that's not where this is going. The information that I have thus far, I don't think that's going to happen at all."

"To me, it looks like somebody's out to get Reggie's money, a classic case of people trying to create some kind of opportunity based on another guy's good fortune."

Re: USC goes 0-13 in 2005...........

I just love the coach's optimism!

I harken back to several years ago when a high school senior was recruited by a booster who paid the player's high school coach to steer the player to a specific college. The school was not invloved, and the player did not chose the booster's university to attend. That minimal involvement was enough to place the university on an extended probation, with talk of a "drop-dead" punishment involved.

I seem to remember that university was the enitity that actually found out the scheme and reported it, and was optimistic also. I guess we will see how consistent the NCAA really is!! My guess, slap on the wrist, cause Fat Phil isn't working behind the scenes, and the SEC isn't involved!

sorry for the Guess I just don't have a lot of confidence in the NCAA NOT to play favorites!

Re: USC goes 0-13 in 2005........... RANT FOLLOWS

If USC played with an ineligible player, they should forfeit every game he participated in, just as Alabama had to in the Antonio Langham matter in 1993 following his secretly signing with an agent after the 1992 championship game. Anything short of that will only highlight what many people already recognize as as a selective, illogical and unfair process as commonly conducted by the NCAA. If USC loses their national championship, that is simply the way things happen, and I mean absolutely no malice towards USC; I have a different motive entirely. Maybe if enough of the schools who are actually generating the most interest (such as the USCs, Alabamas, Texas', Notre Dames, Michigans, et al) get tired of the self-serving, any-which-way-the-wind blows decisions of the Nazis, I mean NCAA, they will break that worthless sham of an organization once and for all and form their own association. Plenty of cigars will be lit across the fruited plain should that happy event take place.

You might sense that I am no fan of the NCAA. I do think that they are capricious, self-righteous, personality-driven and below-board in many cases. Their enforcement is usually selective, almost always illogical and often vindictive. Their investigations have often been conducted by a bunch of secretive, egotistical blowhards with little regard for actual facts: innuendo is plenty enough for the hammer to fall. Penalties for the same offense run the gamut depending on the schools and personalities involved. The entire organization is hypocritical at its core and driven not by concern for the student athlete, but by the appearance of concern; their only real interest is money and the power required to keep it coming. The NCAA has often not even played by their own rules, which in any case in no way resemble the normal due process and rules of evidence afforded the average out-of-town speeder in a backwoods small-town courtroom.

The day Congress wakes up and recognizes that effectively they are not really a private, voluntary organization and that they have to afford their members actual, real-life due process is the day that bunch of self-serving panty liners will have to fold up shop and find real jobs. Of course, that's just my opinion, and I do have an axe to grind with those worthless pieces of scum-sucking, snot-licking, booger-flicking corrupt jerks (I am an Alabama graduate, after all, and am required by state law to hate the suckers, but I'd hate 'em even if I was a Vandy grad).

There, I feel much better.

I certainly ain't no USC fan and it sounds like what he did was wrong - however I have a hard time getting down on a kid for wanting a better life (house) for his parents. Can you really blame him for this?

Well ... its against the rules.

He will make millions this year. Can't they wait a year to live in a mansion?

They appear to be the type of people who will be seen on TV next year wearing fur coats and mega-bling to Bush's games.

Don't hold back, Tim. Tell me how you really feel about them.

I'm LMAO, because I know that TideRoll IS, in fact, going light in his rant. Hardly got warmed up for this!!

Oh, by the way, you forgot the ever changing rules propagated to maintain a need for ever-increasing staff, that then leads to ever-increasing expenses that have to be fed by ever-increasing dues, fees and penalties.

They have become a bloated buracracy just like most local, state and federal governmental bodies. I also put NASCAR into this same catagory. They exist now mainly to find more reasons to continue to exist.
