Absolutely - with no glaring needs to fill. Just take the best player available.

I again agree with you on this, but doubt it will happen for one reason. Selecting Bush will create a buzz and put butts in the seats. Although, I would argue winning will put more butts in the seats for a longer time than just some hyped-up college kid. The glamour of Bush will wear off fast with another 2-14 season in Houston.

On to what's really important, the Chicago Bears. There's been a lot of talk the last two days about the Bears taking Sinorice Moss with the 26th pick. I think Moss is a good pick for a few reasons:
a. Bears WR corp is lacking at best;
b. a good TE can be had in the 2nd round;
c. Moss can be a good return guy (did you see the punt returning circus acts in Chicago, GEEZ!!!).

But I would like to see them trade down to the top of the second round where I think Moss will still be available (Steelers are the only team I see that may take him to replace Randle El) and pick up a 3rd round pick to replace the one they lost for signing Manning.

The 49ers need everything - they can't give up any draft picks to move up. They need to pick up more picks to fill out that roster with some players, 'cause they don't have many right now. In a smilie, the 49ers are .

I think the Texans will draft Bush, and look at trading him I dont think they will trade down in the draft unless someone comes up big, and that has yet to happen....

Well boys... it's official. Mario Williams is the #1 pick of the 2006 draft.

So... being a 49er fan... do you trade up to get Reggie? Stand pat at #6? Damn... so freaking intriguing! Get ready boys... this should be an interesting ride for the first 5 picks!

The Texans have spoiled my draft party before it even started. My wife says I should convert to a Cowoboy fan. I just might have to do that. I am sick and tired of the Texan's . I won't be buying any tickets this year.

Ruined my PSP2 as well. I was enjoying a nice smoke, called my brother, and then he asks if I was calling to complain about Mario Williams. He broke the bad news; I was so @#$% pissed.

Charlie Casserly, Bob McNair and Gary Kubiak!!!

Re: 2006 NFL Draft

Mario Williams is the right pick if you ask me. But the real winner here will be the Saints. They are going to trade down and still get the player they want. I bet they trade picks with the Jets so they can grab which QB they want. Tomorrow is gonna get shaken up with this happening.

As a Jets fan I hope they trade up to get Bush, not Leinart. The way I look at it, the Jets are gonna stink this year anyway. Why not get bush this year and give Pennington one more chance. Best case scenario - You now have Pennington playing well AND reggie Bush on your team. Worst case scenario - Pennington stinks, gets hurt, etc.. and next year you get another high pick and draft a QB like Brady Quinn (granted Im being a little optimistic here..). Now you have Brady Quinn AND Reggie bush on your team.

If they don't trade up Im REEEAALLLY conflicted on what to do.

Re: 2006 NFL Draft

This SOOO makes this draft incredibly interesting....sitting here a Titans fan at #3 the suspense is killing me!!

The Texans boards are going crazy...people are acting like a riot is in order! Williams is a great DE, much like Kearse was for us as a rookie, but a #1? Not picking Bush was crazy...crazy!!

Jets may be the big winner in all of this...along with NO in the picks they wil probably pick up from NY in the process.

And WTF is up with ESPN NOT showing the draft in HD????!!!! RIDICULOUS!!!!

ESPN gets a BIG for that FUBAR move.

Good luck to everyone and their respective teams on their picks today!!!

Re: 2006 NFL Draft

The Texans are just plain idiots! While Mario Williams could be a great player in the NFL, he will NEVER be a star! He will sell ZERO jerseys, ZERO posters, he will sell ZERO season tickets, ZERO suites will be built to house his fans! How many of those ZERO's would Reggie Bush carry with him? ZERO!

I dont mean to bash him, but here is a cut/pasted espn story

"Ten of his 14 sacks in 2005 came in just three games and against lesser opponents. Half of his six sacks in 2004 came in one outing, although, granted, the opponent was Florida State. But you ask yourself: What was this guy doing the rest of the time?"

David Carr spends most of his Sundays like a cheap whore, on his back.. They had a chance to sign one of the most prolific offensive machines to help him out, and they pass and pick a d-lineman..

Im from Philly, so i dont care about Houston. but just wanted to rant about the stupidity of the owner of the Texans!

Anyone agree? anyone disagree? flame on! try to convince me that signing a d-end with the 1st pick in the draft was a good move.

Re: 2006 NFL Draft

What are you watching? ESPN has no HD cameras for this broadcast.

The banner/frames being used on ESPN-HD are in HD, but the broadcast material [the crew on set...Boomer, Irving, etc.] are NOT in HD.

if you even note the scroller at the bottom you will note it is not "ESPN-HD".

as much as I wish it was...it isnt. ESPN does not selectively broadcast their signal to different providers.

Wanna thumb wrestle over it??!!

Who be Philly picking you think??
