College Football Recap - Week 1

ACC:

The Good: Not much. Wake Forest looked solid in a win over Baylor. Miami and Georgia Tech win big.

The Bad: Struggling against 1-AA teams. Maryland defeats Delaware 14-7, North Carolina defeats McNeese State 35-27. Watch out FSU - they open the season against two 1-AA teams: Western Carolina and Chattanooga.

The Ugly: VA Tech losing on a special team play against East Carolina. NC State and Clemson losing to SEC teams.

Big 10:

The Good:Three rank teams win big: OSU, PSU and Wisconsin.

The Bad: Illinois losing in a shootout against Missouri.

The Ugly: Michigan losing their opener at home, again.

Big 12:

The Good: Oklahoma, Texas, Texas Tech and Kansas all win big. Missouri wins in a high-scoring game against ranked Illinois.

The Bad: Not too much. Big 12 went 10-2 opening weekend.

The Ugly: Texas A&M losing to Arkansas State at home.

Big East:

The Good: Like the ACC, not much. West Virginia and South Florida win big.

The Bad: Rutgers losing to Fresno State. Pittsburgh losing to Bowling Green.

The Ugly: Louisville getting destroyed 27-2 by Kentucky, only scoring on an intentional grounding in the endzone by Kentucky.

PAC 10:

The Good: USC big over Virginia. UCLA beating Tennessee.

The Bad: Washington State losing to Oklahoma State.

The Ugly: Not much. The PAC 10 went 5-1 in non-conference games.

SEC:

The Good: LSU, Georgia, Florida and Auburn win big. Alabama beats Clemson.

The Bad: Not much. The SEC goes 10-2 in the opening week.

The Ugly: Tennessee losing a game they should have won, playing against a third-string QB who threw 4 interceptions in the first half.

Unfortunately for you, your Canes were neither "Lucky" nor "Good" as your tagline suggests

they definitely were not, but UF needs to learn how t run the ball. cant control the clock without a vertical running game.

and in addition to your comments, our offensive line needs to improve quite a bit. Tebow was under entirely too much pressure during the first three quarters. The Cane defense shows a lot of promise for a young team. Glad it wasn't any closer than it was. Go Gators!!

i've said it before plenty of times and i'll say it again, tebow is a helluva great player. the reason that UF was not down 0 - 3 at half was b/c of his strength, that kid is awesome. UF definately needs some o line work, and not to worry you, but LSU is bringing one of the best d lines to gainsville this year and they know how to tackle tebow as they have played him for 2 years. it should be a great game (i am feeling a wager coming on, i dont know if it is the LSU pride or the rum?).

I was finally excited that we weren't causing a penalty-fest like we usually do and then our o-line showed its weakness. Running game, I wish we knew how to recruit good RB's, we have definitely not been known for our running game. The reason why USC is so good is because they are so balanced, they always seem to recruit good QBs and good RBs not to mention always having a good D.

I can't wait for the OSU vs USC game next week because either way one of my two most hated teams is going down and my Gator boys are moving up in the polls.
