Re: Manny Ramirez

He's a lucky man, very lucky... I'm not a huge baseball fan so 45 million seems like a ridiculous amount to pay any athelte much less one nearing the end of thier career. I'm an ESPN junkie more than a baseball fan, but watching his salary negotiations he comes across IMO as being a little selfish or greedy... i guess you get what ya can while the gettin is good.

Re: Manny Ramirez

I agree, that much is ridiculous to pay someone to play a game. But, I never could stand when someone says "they're not worth that much." Poppycock! If they weren't wortht hat much, there'd be no one willing to pay that much. Everyone seems to forget that value is a personal thing.

Back on topic, MLB can award the National League West title to the Dodgers now. No reason to play out the year, it's a lock.

Good luck to your Dodgers, As far as whether Manny is worth the bucks, the Dodgers must think so.

Thumbs up Re: Manny Ramirez

He's a helluva ball player but he's one of those guys that doesn't run it out at first or put 100% into it all the time. He's in a way a lot lot T.O. is in the NFL. He's worth 45 million to many teams, considering what he did for the Dodgers half-way through the season last year. The team's stats almost doubled after he joined and they made it into the play offs, which were not very possible before he joined. He remains to this day the bain of all Cubs fans because of what he did...

I was at game 3 of the NLDS. I ran in to a guy there from south Chicago. He flew out to LA because he wanted to see the Cubs lose. How's that for dedication? I feel for Cubs fans though. It's been 21 years since my team has been to the fall classic, but at least I've them win it twice during my life. I can't even begin to imagine what it's like to wait 101 years.

There's only one team I think could give them trouble, and that's the Phils. I've a feeling they'll play better against 'em this year though.

Re: Manny Ramirez

Good luck to the Dodgers, they will need it. As any Red Sox fan will tell you, Manny plays only when Many feels like playing. If that happens to be when the team needs him, fine. If not, too bad for the team. Hey, there is a reason that NO OTHER TEAM in baseball wanted arguably one of the best hitters to ever play the game. As Johnathan Papelbon said, he is a cancer on the team.

I will agree that he was a detriment to the Sox. I don't think anyone could say otherwise. The thing is though, as much as he didn't fit in in Boston, he does fit in in LA.

Re: Manny Ramirez

Manny is such a poor sport. He really screwed over the Red Sox. Instead of just asking to be traded years ago he decided to not try and just goof around, screwing them over. I'm grateful for the great things he did when he was trying, but I'm glad hes gone.

Can only guess at how he will perform these next 2 years.

Re: Manny Ramirez

45 mil is a way too much to pay one of the laziest players in the MLB. I know he can hit, but when's the last time he actually ran or made a diving catch for a ball in the field? When's the last time you saw him hustle around the base path? I think a trot is his maximum speed both on the basepath and in the field.
