Why isn't it fair, there are plenty of jobs that are held to extremely high levels that he would no way in hell be allowed back to work. Police, Fire, Teacher, Judge, and I can go on and on. Funny thing is none of this jobs with higher standards come even close to the kind of money a NFL player makes. These are the same guys are kids cheer for, buy their jersey, go to see them at the games, get their autograph, so I say hell yeah we should hold them at a higher standard! I'm tired of hearing on the radio etc that if he had another job he would be allowed back to work because that is total BS!

Guys we could go on like this forever. I understand everyone elses points, and I know that you guys beleive these thinks based on facts. (Vicks prior behavior) I also realize that there is nothing I can do to change your opinions, so I will leave it alone. You guys have all been great to me hear and I do not want to make enemies, over something like this.

Re: Vick has landed!

Why prevent someone from working when they have served thier time?

Do I agree with what he did..NO WAY..but he has served his time and has done a number of public apperances and has spoke to the kids he has been working with to get back in to football shape. He has served his time and has lost almost everything. He lied to everyone and has had to work his way back. We all knew his tallent would get him a job but its going to be what he does off the field that keeps it. Dungy has been helping him to stay on the right path and I dont believe hes going to leave him alone now that hes found a team.

My whole thought is that hes done his time..why not..

If we are looking for "Heroes" they are not found in our sports.

Firemen, police men, EMTs Military and teaches are all where we should point our youth.

Re: Vick has landed!

I live and work outside of Philly and I'm hearing a lot of mixed noise from the all Boo Birds (I for one am a Skins fan), I have people selling their season tix, others still going, and those who think he could help the team, but still don't like the guy.

I agree what he did was horrible and their are "different" standards for the more visible people in our society. Unfortuntely their are a lot of "normal" people who get out of jail and their records taint them for life. I am for second chances, but seconds chances only. Anyone see the news story on Felony Franks? The owner hires felons to give them second chances and its working out. Surprisingly there are those who learn from their mistakes. Only time will tell if Vick has. Could be worse Could of been his brother Marcus, that guy had way more issues.

People should look up to REAL HEROS as stated by fellow brothers.

NOW- As for a football note, having him and McNabb, Malkin, Jackson, Westbrook, and Buckley will make a very dangerous offense this year.

Re: Vick has landed!

I'm all for second chances but in the high profile situations I don't know. Kids look up to these guys. Does it tell our kids it's ok to go out and screw up once because they will get a second chance and they can still make millions. Well depending on the situation that second chance may never come. Yea I know parent's should teach their kids right from wrong but that is not always the case. Peer pressure is a tough thing and a lot of times wins out over what is right or wrong. Hope that makes since.

Re: Vick has landed!

I don't see how anyone feels he "deserves" a second chance. Playing in the NFL is not a right, it is a privelege. He does deserve as second chance at becoming a normal law-abiding citizen but that is the only thing he "deserves".

If you look at it from a football point of view the guy was the worst rated passer in the NFL for the time he was there. Sure it was exciting watching him because you never knew when he was gonna take off and create another highlight reel. But by the same token you never knew when he was gnna overthrow his receiver by 15 yards either.

I am happy that the city of Atlanta got the albatross from around their necks and finally got a real QB.

Eagles just dropped a notch in my book. Unless they win a superbowl they are failures.

Re: Vick has landed!

As a long time Eagles fan I am torn on this one. A lot of good points have been made thus far and there is no sense in being repetitive. All I can think of is the following..

We throw snowballs at Santa, and cheer when you almost break your neck. What was Vick thinking coming here? The best he can hope for is to see little to no playing time, and keeping his mouth shut.

At least I have the Phillies and Flyers.

Re: Vick has landed!

You guys keep talking about second chances.....this guy has had numerous "second chances" and he keeps f'ing it up. Look into his background and you'll understand. A zebra can't change it's strips and neither can this guy...after all, how can someone that took a hammer to a dogs mouth to remove its teeth be re-habilitated? You can't re-habiltate a psychopath!!!

The guy wasn't even a great QB. It's disgrace and shows a complete lack of character by the Eagles management. Sure he deserves to make a living but it shouldn't be a living that pays him more than 99% of hard working Americans that abide by the laws of society and know right from wrong. Its PATHETIC!!!

Re: Vick has landed!

I don't have a problem with giving someone a second chance, but this is a windfall a guy like that does not deserve.

On the other hand this has really helped with getting dog fighting out in front of the public and so far Vick has done a good job promoting this cause.

Only time will tell how this whole deal will turn out.

Re: Vick has landed!

I'm sorry in advance here people! I'm with Teedles on this one though. Second chance, third chance, ninth chance, whatever, its what makes this country great. We don't simply cut your hands off the first time you steal, like in many other places around the world. In our country you do the crime you do the time, and when your time is up, you get a chance to turn things around. He went to inner cities with the head of the Humane Society to talk to kids and adults alike about how horrible it was, and how he is against it now (time will tell if he is serious) and to not look up to a aweful example he set.
As for his salary, the guy is bankrupt now, and is only making 1.5 mil this year, i know its a lot but far in contrast to the once highest paid qb in the nfl. This is conditional of course of his behavior. He's not reinstated yet either. The NFL has to make up their mind by week 6 if they want him or not, till then he can't play.
And I dont think its fair to say I can't believe the eagles picked him up, what scum, hey the NFL is a business, and so are each team in the NFL, and their job is to win. Vick brings a nasty new element to the eagles offense, and I for one am excited to see it.

I admit, I'm an die hard eagles fan, and I'm excited to see him come in this year, and hopefully get us a Super Bowl Win!

"DISCLAIMER" I do think what he did is disgusting, and am a dog lover myself. I also agree that NFL stars are slipping away from the Role Model, Model, and we should still recognize the real heroes of our country. The Police, Firefighters, teachers, Doctors, military, ect ect.

Re: Vick has landed!

Was watching the presser and some other clips of him speaking. Did anyone else notice the smug smirk on his face? This guy is a doosh who is destined for failure and IMO it can't come quick enough.

Let's see,

Off Field:
Spreading STD
Weed in water bottle
Fighting dogs
Interstate gambling
Smoking weed in limo
Failed drug test while waiting to go to court

On field:
Not giving 100% every play
Quitting on the field
Flipping off home town fans

the reason he is going around talking about how bad dog fighting is.............is because he HAS too! Hes not doing it cause he is a changed man...hes doing it because he got caught and this is the punishment and ultimately what he has to do to get back to the NFL..........guess it worked.
