What he did was wrong no doubt and there are issues with that but if they let people that have killed another human play in the league then how can you keep him out?

Re: Who wants to see Vick get blasted?

I don't argeee with what he did, nor do I fully agree with bringing him back. It is a funky subject due to that "celebrity" factor we see day in and day out. We live in a world of double standards for those or in the spotlight. If we had consistancey, half of hollywood, several athletes, and most of our congresspeople would be in jail (which wouldn't be so bad come to think of it).

Eagles fans gave him a loud, almost standing, ovation when he went on the feild last night, looks like they approve (at least those there).

isn't their a saying or proverd that speaks of judging a man by his actions?? Well, people have judge both his on and off the field. In due time can we "re-evaluate" him based on his actions to come. what if, just what if some real good came of this??? I guess time will tell.

I would like soming positive to come out of this mess

To me what he did was disgusting and indicates a sickness beyond the norm.

If I recall correctly, none of those people were charged with running an interstate gambling ring.
IMO the league should be concerned about the interstate gambling (which is what he was convicted of) which could harm the integrity of every game he plays in.

It is known and he has admitted that in the past he did not give 100% every game so who is to say he didn't have a little something on the line in those games. Or maybe owed some bad people some cash so he just layed it down a little bit. Not saying that is what happened or will happen but the guy does owe a lot of money. How is he to be trusted not to do it? I mean he has already proven that he cannot be trusted. He is a liar, druggie, lazy, sadistic, and immoral person.

Playing in the NFL is not a right, it is a privelage. Let's see you get convicted of the same crimes and then tell your previous employer that you have a "right" to have your old job back and see where that gets you.

Yes its illegal and he was punished for it. Its a done deal.
Rape tends to be violent also but that doesn't make it "not a big deal".

He can have a second chance, but I am pretty sure I do not want him to succeed

No doubt on this one, I am just saying that our life would be different if we all went out and killed someone too. We wouldn't get our lifestyle back nor would we be living in luxury. Unfortunately the precedent has been set in the NFL and we are will to turn the other check if it helps our team win games.

sometimes we need to take these people off of their pedestal and look at them like common people. "Well the team really should pay him more money even though he had another 4 years under contract at his current rate." you almost feel sorry for these guys until you calculate how many years it would take you turn earn their base salary not including the extra money they want ...

I would love to see Vick stuck sacking groceries, but until they get rid of the rest of the jokers ... well ....

The man served his time. I detest what he did, but I believe everyone deserves a second chance. We'll see in due time whether or not he has repented of his evil ways.

BTW, Tony Dungy works in prisons all the time. If he's supportive of Vick getting a second chance, then I will follow suit. Dungy is closer to the situation that we are anyway.

TBH,,,you're kidding, right? So that means if a member of your family is violated or beaten or killed and the perpetrator serves their time,,,it's a done deal? Just so that I get your drift here cuz I don't want to misunderstand what you are saying,,,,people can be as demented as they want to be and do some pretty outrageous stuff and as long as they do "time" like when I pay for a parking or speeding ticket,,,it's all the same. Pay a debt and it doesn't matter if it's a heinous act or not,,it's just doing the time and that is the big consequence of your actions. The longer Im alive the more I'm not surprised by things. Chalk this up to living in paradise.

The issue is not whether one guy gets a break while another person has to pay a price. The issue is what is right and what is wrong. Anyone who wants to equivocate on this does not accept responsibility unless it is put up to a vote as to how others are treated. What ever happened to the moral imperative,,what ever happened to knowing what the difference between right and wrong is? The lines are so blurred anymore that people want to put "right and wrong" to a vote or if someone gets away with murder then all should get the same treatment. Mr Vick's mentality is that he thinks that tortureing animals is logical thinking and he said he wasn't aware of his actions until he went to prison ( his words on 60 Minutes ) and that scares me. He apologized for doing something he wasn't even aware that it was wrong. That is like a rapist telling the jury,,"Sorry, I thought rape was ok and I still think about doing it but since you all say I shouldn't do this,,,oopsie, sorry, guess I wills till think about it and try not to do this in front of anyone but I am still a demented human being who likes doing this but I will serve my time and we'll all be good,,,"

"If" he can demonstrate he's changed,,not by words but by deeds and actions. Why would you follow suit for Tony Dungee without seeing it firsthand for yourself. I like Tony as well, but Tony Dungee doesn't speak for me,,you're willing to hand over your decision making to somebody else because he's a celebrity who works with prisoners? That is like saying I trust my investments to Bernie Madoff without every really knowing who Bernie was before he was found out. Im not saying that Tony is a bad man,,,but I don't give that kind of power to anyone because I am too lazy to think for myself,,,I may be wrong but I'm not ready to hand over the reins of my life and thoughts to any one man or government.

Re: Who wants to see Vick get blasted?

This is honestly a difficult topic for me because I'm torn.

On one side I'm an animal lover, and have 2 dogs myself who to be honest, are more like kids to me than pets. So a part of me wishes nothing but horrible ill on the guy.

On the other hand I have to take into consideration that he was raised in an area where dog fighting was hugely popular, and even the local law enforcement and officials took part in it. So he was raised to think it was ok. I also have to weigh further the fact that so rarely do people actually do time for these crimes, and he had the book thrown at him and did 2 years. From what I can see he is now genuinely sorry, regrets it, will never do it again, and is working with organizations to prevent this kind of thing and educate others.

So like I said, I have a hard time with it. I'd like to be able to say he did his time, let him be, but I can't form my lips to say such a thing.

But I believe the question was, who wants to see Vick get blasted? And to that question I can honestly answer, yes, I do. My dogs and I will cheer everytime he is slow and wobbly to get up. I might be willing to give him a second chance, but that certainly doesn't mean I have to like him.

I would think that the man from Charleston, SC who got 40 years for running a dogfighting ring may disagree with you.

I also can't agree that he seems genuinly sorry. Did you watch the presser and see the smug look he had on his face during his apology? To me it reeked of "Every where I go people love Mike Vick".

Not being argumentative with you but just pointing out my views.

Re: Who wants to see Vick get blasted?

Didn't Tony Dungy and Coach Andy Reid both have problems with their owns sons?
So why is it that we should rely upon them as role models to keep an eye on Vick?
Vick is an adult if he needs someone to watch over him to begin with he doesn't deserve to be in the league.

I wasn't aware anyone was sentenced to that length of time for a crime against animals. That is promising and I'm honestly glad to hear it.

As for Vick, I didn't see the interview. I base my opinions on his recent changes off of articles I've read on the subject.

He was a millionaire, lost everything he had, did a couple of years in jail..let's see if he is the good person that he speaks about.
