Yeah,,,he got a standing ovation from the fans there. Why? Because people have lost their minds and only care about what he might do on the football field. There comes a point in time when all you can do is shake your head and walk away from the sheer stupidity and ignorance that people engage in. As has been said many times:
Stupid is forever, ignorance can be fixed. ~Don Wood

That is like saying I trust my investments to Bernie Madoff without every really knowing who Bernie was before he was found out. Im not saying that Tony is a bad man,,,but I don't give that kind of power to anyone because I am too lazy to think for myself,,,I may be wrong but I'm not ready to hand over the reins of my life and thoughts to any one man or government.
Have you or I actually talked one on one with Vick? Has Dungee? All I was saying is that Dungee is a good man and he is closer to the situation that any of us. I'm not handing my decision making to anyone or giving some kind of extra power to anyone. I thought through my opinion over whether or not I thought Vick deserved a second chance and I respect Tony Dungee (who is closer to the situation than me), so his opinion was part of my reasoning process. Anyone who does not take the opinions of people they respect into their reasoning are simply not being reasonable.

With that said, the difference in the behavior between the two "men" (and I use that term lightly) is that one was DWI and a man ran out in front of him from nowhere and he hit him which resulted in his death. Immediately following this the driver (Stallworth) phoned 911 and told them what happened (keep in mind that he did this knowing he had been drinking and would probably be in trouble). He accepted responsibility and expressed deep remorse from the time of the incident up to the present.

The other scenario involved a person (Vick) torturing dogs that didn't perform up to "his standards" by such things as electrocution, hanging until dead, slamming repeatedly to the ground until dead, and drowning. Also stealing dogs from the neighborhood to use as "bait" to train the fighting dogs. Now when this individual was caught doing this he lied to the police, his boss, his fans, and anyone else that he thought would buy it. Of course once his house of cards fell down he got up and "raed" a statement written by his lawyers telling how sorry he was. Of course while awaiting trial he failed a drug test.

Now you may say "well he was raised around dog fighting", that excuse works very well for a 12 year old, 26, not so much. But then of course it was "just dogs" that he tortured and abused. Not unlike Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer and countless other psychopaths did in their youth.
Excellent post Donnie! Because of his deep remorse and doing the right thing I think that Stallworth deserves more of a second chance than Vick does. Wouldn't be nice if one of the Eagles opponents this year trained a bunch of Pit Bulls to act as the defensive line while Vick is at the helm? That would be poetic justice.

I agree he is a good man but Mr. Dungee is only a facilitator of one man trying to help another,,,,the responsibility rests on Michael Vick to change his behavior and not focus on his rhetoric. My point was and still is,,,,Vick is the only one who can change his direction in life and so far his direction which has been pointed out numerous times in this thread is not a forward moving direction. His only theme is to say he's sorry that he did what he did and any forward motion on his part seems to be packaged and promoted by others who are telling him what to say, what to do and how to do it. True remorse and being accountable for your actions do not require somebody elses actions to get you motivated.,,,,,you accept responsibility for what you did, you change direction by "deeds" not words. You are truly remorseful and show remorse by doing those things that show people you are changing and that is how you get a second chance. Too many people today think that saying "I'm sorry" or " I accept responsibility for my actions" is the secret for getting second chances. Once again,,,it's deeds and not words that give you credibility.
While I empathize with your charity towards another human being I think it is misplaced because Mr. Vick has not "accepted" responsibility for his actions,,,he only talks about accepting it and his continued "talk" is what gets people enraged about him. He should STFU and actually let his actions demonstrate what his mouth is saying,,,,that is how you redeem yourself. ( rant over )
