Any interest in the 2006 World Cup.......?

I don't follow soccer to closely but after backpacking Europe in 2002, this event is huge. It was crazy seeing people leave work early, crowd all the local bars, and party in the streets all over Europe. Total Mayhem....

My prediction is for Brasil to repeat. They're team is stacked, but you never know. Soccer is always unpredictable.

Any other fans out there?

Communist Kickball...

I went to a world cup match when it was here in DC. I think it was Ethiopia vs. the Saudi's. It was an intense game, and the fans were insane.

I'm a big footy fan and am quite interested in the World Cup! However, I am not interested in all the hype and crud surrounding the event.

I say, get on with the games!

(Gee I am becoming a miserable SOB in my old age! )

I love the hype and crud! Not really a soccer fan, but I am a sports fan so I'm gonna love it!

I don't know who to root for though. Parents are from Germany and my sister lives there, but don't know if that's enough to make me root for them. I love the Italian obsession (big Italian population here). I like the Spanish and like to see England (although it may be more fun to hear them cry like babies when they lose again!). I can't quite understand why they are too stupid to send a UK team. Wouldn't the Irish and Scottish players be combined with the English? Wouldn't they have a better chance?

It gonna be great!

Great pic!

I am very interested - I watch the English Premier League all of the time and am interested to see how well or bad the various stars of tha league play. I am pulling for the US very hard, but it is going to be tough.

I am also following England because of Rooney!

Re: Any interest in the 2006 World Cup.......?

I love the World Cup! I bet on Netherlands to take it all, 8-1. They have a strong team that was embarassed last cup and they should have a strong showing. VanNistelrooy is an underrated player and he has a lot to prove. Brazil is a great team but they can be beaten.
