The Baseball Thread

Hi guys!
My Angels are in the toilet.. I'm depressed! Sound off on your ball clubs!

It's good to see A-Rod broke out of his slump last night.. Pedro got shelled, too. What an interesting season this is turning out to be....

Re: The Baseball Thread

Let's see, sound off on the Royals... At least we have a shot at not breaking the all time losingest season record! How about that?! We are really bad, but in all fairness to the boys in blue, we are in the AL Central with the two best teams in baseball and the Twinkies are beating up on everyone outside of our division. So I think our record is also indicative of the brutal schedule that we are playing as well it is reflective of the glaring lack of quality pitching! It'd be a shame if we broke the single season loss record because I'm convinced that our record would be 5-10 games better if we were not in the AL Central. Oh well, at least we are spanking the National League Central (except for the Cards )! Go Royals!

Re: The Baseball Thread

Braves fan here.

It looks like the streak is over. Not going to make it to 15 division titles in a row. If they continue to falter, Smoltz may be a gonner to a team in contention (Tigers). Schuerholtz wouldn't pull any strings for the bullpen, which has to be the worst in baseball right now, but this is a team for sale so they're appear to be reducing payroll in order to increase profit margin or something - I don't know. We have plenty of young talent, but no bullpen. We've lost like 25 one run games this year already. The future looks bright as long as they get some pitching.

I'm with Richard, our beloved Red Sox are doing fine. It was especially nice to see Pedro crash and burn last night. Go Sox!

God I hope not. Young pitching is our strong suit right now, I'd hate to see them give that up to get Smoltz. Ironicaly it would be the Smoltz/Alexander trade all over again.

If and when the Tigers make a move it should be for a left handed bat, Raul Ibanez would be my personal choice.

OK Red Sox fans, what's the story on Bard. We got him from you for Mirabelli and he's platooning with Piazza Man. He's leading the team batting about three fiddy.

I would think you would like that deal. After all, Alexander really helped the Tigers win it all. No way Smoltz can hurt if he's in the bullpen!!!!!

BTW Braves suck............again. It's been a nice ride.

Ranger's here. Last I checked they were tied with the A's for first. All-Star game is coming up and the Ranger's are famous for gorgetting about the season following the all-star break.

Re: The Baseball Thread

The 'Stros are playing like sh*t. The bats need to start swinging and the bullpen needs to get it together. "Lights Out" Lidge ain't lights out anymore; Pujols' homerun ball that hasn't landed yet is probably still in his mind since last season. The astros tend to shine and make a dramatic run in the second half of the season though. There's still good talent in this team, so I'm predicting they'll be contenders for the wild card again.

Re: The Baseball Thread

Mariners fan here. They're over .500 for the first time this late in the season since 2003 and they're on fire for June.

Beltre has had his best month as a Mariner this June, been playing excellent. I hope he keeps it up because he's been a black hole in the lineup for two years now.
