ESPN Full Circle
Did anyone watch the game on ESPN full circle last night? - It was broadcast on ESPN2 as a promo. For those who dont know, this is a new method of broadcast from ESPN where they show multiple camera shots of a sporting event on one screen at once in different little boxes I thought that other than the FSU Miami game being horribly boring, the broadcast was way to confusing. By the time I decided to switch from one camera view to the next to watch a play in action that I had lost the ball. And by the time i located it, the play was over. I love the over head camera and the classic look, but switching between the two proved difficult. Overhead is best for running plays and Classic is best for passing plays - but by the time i read what kind of play it is and pick which view to watch, I miss the whole thing. And other than that - the other boxes, like the coach cam and the QB cam were wastes of space - I hardly ever watched them. If the coach is doing something exciting then he will be on the main screen, and this was always the case last night - so why even bother with these extra views.
Anyone else share that opinion? |

Re: ESPN Full Circle
Just something different, I guess. They did this earlier this year with the Duke - UNC basketball game. They had an above the rim cam on ESPN2 (I think) and a Cameron Crazy Cam on ESPNU. I thought that those were pretty cool but I didn't do any of the channel changing to check out the other views during the Miami/FSU game. But anyway, since I've mentioned them already in this post, might as well do it again GO DUKE

Re: ESPN Full Circle
I like the idea, but they definitely need to refine the implementation, it seemed like it was way too frantic.

Re: ESPN Full Circle
I agree, it was just below Beyonce on the ridiculous meter.
I don't agree it was a boring game though, well, not if you're into watching great defense (which I am).

Re: ESPN Full Circle
Yes, for 30 seconds. That's as long as I could stand not watching it in high-def.
