Here is an article I just read:

News: Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth was suspended five games for kicking Dallas center Andre Gurode in the face during Sunday's game. The NFL said Monday that Haynesworth was suspended for flagrant unnecessary roughness. The suspension, which is without pay, is effective immediately. Haynesworth will be eligible to return to the field Nov. 19 for the Titans' game at Philadelphia. "There is absolutely no place in the game, or anywhere else, for the inexcusable action that occurred in yesterday's Titans-Cowboys game," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said.

Re: Nothing short of assault charges needed!

Five games is ridiculous! I agree, he should be gone for the rest of the season at a MINIMUM and I would like to see him thrown out of the league. It is one thing to through down a rough hit but to stomp on another player's head, even if it is a cowboy, is criminal.

Just stupid - deserves a lifetime ban.

You know I still have not seen it...almost..once. I came back in right after they showed it on one of the sports shows and they said the same thing. I'll take your word for itthat he kicked him first too. 5 game suspension w/o pay.
That should be a good chunk of change. It will really piss me off if the players union steps in because in my opinion they are toprotect players. What about the player that got injured. justmy

Re: Nothing short of assault charges needed!

no way is this anything close to "slapping a ball out of a GLOVE."

if this is compared to anything, it would be what that hockey player did by jacking the other from behind and almost ending his life/career.
if you remember that one, didn't they press CRIMINAL charges on the hockey player?

How many guys have you ever seen run up the first base line and try and slap the ball? None because its not a part of the game just like what that clown for the Titans did. Its not part of the game, it was pathetic and was a bush league move.

It's ludicrous to compare what A-Rod did and what this sorry excuse for a human being did. Yes, what A-Rod did was absurd but to compare the two is laughable.

Just a little bit of a difference between the two

Re: Nothing short of assault charges needed!

i've always wondered why they don't throw guys out of the game for bulldogging catchers who clearly have position and the ball in their gloves. unless they re-wrote the rules from when i was an umpire, it was strictly prohibited from running someone over who was in proper position with the control of the ball.

but that doesn't matter.

it's obvious this guy was intending to harm.
but slapping a ball out of a glove at first base?? c'mon, take the "yankee hater" glasses off.

Re: Nothing short of assault charges needed!

i agree, the a-rod chop is not in the same league for comparison (no pun intended).

I saw today that this guy got the 5-game suspension. i agree that he should be suspended for the rest of the season, and fined. there's no place for that on the football field. if any of us did that at our jobs, we'd be in jail. this is their job, they are professionals, and should act as such.

Re: Nothing short of assault charges needed!

5 game suspension and no pay for the games missed. That's about $95k per game so he's missing out on about $500k because he let his temper get the best of him. Sad...And it's also sad the punishment wasn't more strict.

Re: Nothing short of assault charges needed!

I just got done seeing it. For those of you who didn't see it I found it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVP7K...elated&search= . Yea 5 games is nowhere near enough the man stepped on his face with cleats that is ridiculous. It should have been at LEAST the rest of the season. I am not against physical play within the boundries of the game and I will be the first to say things have gotten a little softer, BUT this was just ridiculous. This isnt withing the boundries this isnt within the same country the boundries are in, he should have been for the season

Re: Nothing short of assault charges needed!

I think you guys are taking the shot at a rod a little to seriously. Im obviously on your side in agreement that what the idiot who stomped did was inexcusable, not just because Im a cowboys fan. I think you guys need to lighten up just a little bit

No, you need to lighten up with your A-Rod hating. Your comparing A-Rod swatting a ball out of someones glove to a guy stomping somebody's head with cleats! I've seen far worse things done in baseball, but few as bad as what happened the other day.

True, now let's see what his team does to him.
