NCAA surprises so far

We're almost halfway through the season and boy has it been wild so far. I was just doing some surfing and here are some thing almost no one predicted going into the fall.

N.C. State is in charge of the ACC Atlantic division and the coastal division is Georgia Tech's to lose. Florida State is 1-2 in conference and second to last in their division and Miami already has two losses and almost a third to Houston.

Mizzou has the best record in the Big 12, and Oklahoma is dead last in the South. Texas is tied with Baylor (yes you read that right, Baylor) for the lead in the South.

In the SEC, Arkansas is on top of the West and has a two game lead on LSU.

Rutgers is 5-0, (though they haven't really played anyone so far, we'll see how they do against a tough Navy team this weekend.)

It's been a great football season so far, but what's going on this year?

Re: NCAA surprises so far

My team sucks which isn't much of a surprise.

I think Missouri and WF are definate suprises.

Florida State doesn't suprise me. They haven't been dominant since the 90's. However, they still have a nine win team. It takes MSU 3-4 years to win 9.

Miami's crappy play is the big surprise for me so far. Kirk "stupid pretty boy" Herbstreet picked them to win it all before the season starts. Nice pick buddy

Re: NCAA surprises so far

"Wake Forest led 17-3 entering the final 15 minutes and looked to extend its lead to 17 when Sam Swank lined up for a 42-yard field goal.

But holder Jon Temple had trouble with the snap and Adams drilled him at the 34. The ball came loose and Adams returned it 66 yards for a touchdown to pull Clemson to 17-10."

This was against a good, #15 ranked Clemson team. Will it demoralize the team or get them fired up for NCState......

I can remember a good Mizzou team. I can never remember WF ever having a winning recoerd.

You would need a pretty long memory.

Re: NCAA surprises so far

My team blows as well, Michigan State, what another disappointment, Stanton was suppossed to be a first round pick and I think he won't even be drafted, he looks awful. He is so afraid to throw the ball down field, so he just runs it all the time and he isn't that great of a runner. John L. Smith is definitely going to get fired after this year. Blow the big game against Notre Dame, and won't probably win another game all year. But what about Ohio State losing all those guys are defense and still be as good of a team as they are.

Re: NCAA surprises so far

Im suprised to see LSU so low in the SEC...but the SEC is one rough ass conference. I still enjoy watching the tigers fight tho. Even with 2 losses they still are looking pretty strong. I look forward to the rest of the season for a few teams.

I'm not a fan, but weren't they really good one year (late 80's early 90's)?

I am surprised with Tennessee's success so far, 1 point away from beating Flordia and we would be undefeated. The win over Georgia was most surprising for me, although that destruction we put on Cal was more fun to watch.

How can you be surprised with the vols? They're a perrenial power that had one bad year. Definitely a team to be reckoned with...the SEC is sick this year. It's almost like the ACC where all the teams beat up on one another only the SEC is talented while the ACC is...well not so much.
