Also a mets fan:

I think that 1-8 we have better hitters, 1-4 starters are about even with carpenter having the edge over glavine but other then that its even. And our bullpen is far better. My opinion is it comes down to two things our 1-2 hitter s vs their 1-2 hitters. whoever can get their 1-2 hitters on base more often will win.

Ditto.

Use to root for them years ago until the big rivalry between my brother-in-law and I got really bad.
Last time I rooted for them was the BoSox series.
They play in a purple stadium!

The Mets are odds on favorites but, this is baseball and anything can happen.

Interesting theory about the 1-2 hitters. We'll see how that works out. The Cards should score some runs off all the Mets starters. The big question mark in the Cards lineup is Rolen who has been playing hurt.

The biggest problem for Cards pitching is that the Mets can load the lineup with left-handed bats and that could be a real problem for Weaver and Suppan. And, unless he can get his act together, everyone will be a problem for Reyes. However, just heard that Tony will be starting Carp in game #2 ... that may give him 2 starts in the series.

And, I'm glad to hear that the Mets are so confident that they have a better bullpen. Watch out for the Cards young relievers. I'm starting to think that LaRussa has finally figured out the bullpen. They made the Padres look helpless. Izzie's out, and if you take away all of his blown saves, the Card's season record would be nearly as good as the Mets.

With any luck the Cards could make it a VERY long winter in New York!

I can't say that I dislike the Met's. I guess maybe because I live upstate and the Mets-Yankee Rivalry is more of a city thing. Truthfully, I probably won't bother watching much of the NLCS.

Re: Mets-Cards

So last nigth was a GREAT game. as a Mets fan i was a little worried. IF the Mets would of Lost game one with carpenter/maine in game two we could of been in trouble. If we had gone down 2-0 to the cards the whole series could of been different. Was suprised how well Weaver pitched and how well glavine and the bullpen controlled the 3-4-5 hitters of the cards. to put a 0 for 11? up was incredible.

Who did they beat? oh yeah thats right, a washed up old team, with no pitching, no timely hitting, who constantly sits and waits for the three run homer, and they are beating a team who can't hit a lick right now... Going into the post season I really wasn't thinking world series... but now honestly... I don't see why its not possible for a National League team to win..
