World Series cheater caught on Film?

Is Kenny Rogers a cheat? or is there an innocent explanation for this? Decide for yourself. He claiims it was a clump of dirt.

It was just dirt. He wiped it off right in the beginning on he game and pitched awesome.

i hope it was dirt. they did have several close-ups during the broadcast that were pretty clear. i've never seen thin greasy clumps of dirt ... but no one will ever know for sure!?!

no matter what; have to admit he pitched one hell of a game!! just glad he can't pitch 4 games in a row!!

Not the first time he has pitched with "dirt" in the same spot on his pitching hand, he is guilty. I really don't think it would impact his pitching or the game though, unless it was grease which could cause greater movement on his pitches. Vaseline used to be a favorite substance, I believe the Neikro brothers were very good with it.

I agree, I don't think that is anything to 'cheat' with on his hand. It wouldn't do you any good in that spot (palm).

But hey, a little vasoline close by, say on the brim of the hat, inside the jersey collar, inside the glove, etc., can really make a ball dance nicely. And what's a little vasoline among friends??

TV showed it much better last night. It's over now as the officiating crew did not nail him for it. Pretty obvious what it was. Too bad as it detracts from what he accomplished.

He should have been ejected from the game and suspended for 10 games (the rest of the series) for what he did. Pretty lame if you ask me...

i'm just shocked Tony didn't talk to the Umpires during the 1st inning. once he was off the field, it was too late. you know that either the others in the dugout or the team box were watching this develop on TV and warned him to remove it immediately after the inning was over. they did show him talking to a few folks and then quickly dancing back into the locker room.

I never understood the deal about "substances" on the baseball. Seems to me it would make the ball as hard to throw as it might be to hit. I can't throw 80 mph ... but if I used vaseline I'm sure I couldn't even throw 30 mph.

It's illegal for the pitcher to use any foreign substances except for the rosin bag. Even blowing in your hand is and automatic walk, except in cold weather.

I really don't think it had an effect on the game. Whatever it was, it was wiped off after the first inning, and St.L obviously still couldn't hit the ball after that.
