Ali / Foreman fight

The Rumble in the Jungle was replayed on tv today. I was 3 when it actually happened. I knew Ali was gonna win but that's the first time I've actually seen the fight! Man alive! Ali played him till he was wore out and WHAM!! You don't see 'em fight like that anymore.

Re: Ali / Foreman fight

I've watched this fight a number of times. It's a classic. Ali's strategy was perfect. But you'll never see it again because no fighter is going to intentionally absorb that much punishment.

I loved Howard Cosell's call..."Foreman goes down...Foreman goes down!!"

Say what you will about Howard, I loved to listen to him do Ali fights as a kid. And Ali...what can you say? The Greatest.

Re: Ali / Foreman fight

I weas always partial to Hagler-Hearns. I loved the way Hagler was cut, the Ref came to his corner, probably told him he had one round and the fight would be stopped, and he came out and KOed the hitman!!!

Great short fight!!!

No, Don King is the devil. He has ruined boxing, imo.

There hasn't been many great fighters in middle-weight and heavier since Tyson's prime.

I agree about Don King. There are some great fighters around the world we don't see very often. There is more good fighting in the UFC and the like...I just get worn out watching them work on the mat.
