Just one question, and if i missed it sorry. How is this being scored? one loss in a bracket and you're out of that bracket, total number of correct picks, etc.???

Points for each correct pick. 1 for wild card round, 2 for divisional round, 4 for championship round and 8 for super bowl, with total points scored in last game being the tie-breaker. btw, Moose is sending me his prize and is in despite not having the trader feedback yet.

Re: NFL Playoff Contest?

Something has come to mind that could affect how some brackets are scored. The second round opponents will vary depending on who wins in the first round. Unless there are objections, I think credit should be given for picking the winner from a second round game even if the spot is incorrect. For example, Seattle will play at Chicago or at New Orleans next weekend depending on the outcome of the Giants/Philly game. I think credit should be given for picking the winners in the second round, regardless of who the opponent is.

I don't want to be the fly in the ointment, but I can't agree. If you do that you completely destroy the integrity of the brackets.

If you are wrong on the first round pick in a bracket, you should be out of that bracket. Somebody picks KC over Indy in the first round, which if correct would make the second round matchups SD vs. KC and Baltimore vs. the winner of the Jet/NE game. This is a completely different matchup then Indy vs. Baltimore and SD vs. NE or the Jets. Picks were based on everybodys belief that their teams would advance, you don't win, you don't advance in THAT BRACKET. Of course you would stay alive in the brackets you are correct in. This is the only way I've ever seen any bracket type contest work, and seems the fair way to do it to me.

Re: NFL Playoff Contest?

You know... this is why you don't see bracket games run by Yahoo, etc. for pro football. The brackets work wonderfully with college BB, but with the seedings determining the matchups, etc. it gets tough.

I'm OK with whatever you think on this... I can see both sides. Maybe let it play out and see if it makes a difference before trying to make a change.

Re: NFL Playoff Contest?

Just to further explain my reasoning as to why you should be out of a bracket if the team you picked lost:

I picked Indy to beat KC in the first round. I knew that if Indy won they would play Baltimore in the second round, and knowing that I again picked Indy to win in the second round. Now Indy won, so theres no problem there.

But for the sake of argument and illustration here, lets say Indy lost. I would not only have lost in the first round, but in the second round I would lose too, since Indy wouldn't even be playing, naturally they couldn't beat Baltimore.

If that were the case, would I be allowed yet another pick, a so called "replacement" pick for the second round, and would I get to pick who the winner of the Baltimore-KC game would be? I think the answer to that would be of course not. Therefore, if someone picked KC in the first round and lost, why should THEY still be alive for the second round in that bracket?????The brackets have changed, baltimore is playing Indy, not NE which would have been the case if KC had won. not sure if this is clear, but I hope so.
