JaMarcus Russell going PRO (ESPN Reporting)

"Louisiana State quarterback JaMarcus Russell will skip his senior season and enter the NFL draft in April.

A news conference is scheduled Wednesday to announce the decision, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Sunday.

Russell, a 6-foot-6, 260-pounder from Mobile, Ala., was the nation's No. 3-ranked quarterback in passing efficiency this season. He threw for a career-high 332 yards and two touchdowns in the Tigers' 41-14 victory over Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl on Wednesday night.

Russell will finish his LSU career with 6,525 yards and 52 touchdowns in three seasons -- two as a full-time starter."

I would actually take JaMarcus Russell over Quinn and for sure over Troy Smith. However if Brian Brohm declares he really needs to be look at as being the top pick.

Something tells me the Raiders will somehow screw this up ALA Houston

I hear the Texans have an eye out for JaMarcus...I am just wondering which QB will be starting next season for LSU, either the guy I don't like (Matt Flynn) or the prodigal son, Ryan Perrilloux, supposedly better than JaMarcus, 2 inches shorter, and faster.

If he came out, I would take that kid from Hawaii, saw him play in his bowl game and a couple more times and was very impressed.

where are you hearing this from?

They may have to trade up to get JaMarcus, which I don't see them doing

What a shame he will be missing out on his "education."

Hey, don't anybody go and try to get LSUTiger's hopes up. He had a bad `06 draft.

Here's to hoping the Texan's pick better this year!

I was just wondering the same thing! I can't wait for the 2007 season! Only 10 more months to go!

I am not in the know, but I would think there is no way that Ryan is better than JaMarcus. I would not be surprised if Matt is the starter.

Some scouts are saying JR is a high risk/high reward due to some football I.Q. issues.

Yeah. I have been hearing that as well. But not as big a concern because Vince Young Bucked the System and had a fine season. JaMarcus Russell is pure talent. That kid has a cannon for an arm. He is big and fast. An offensive coordinators wet dream.
