USA vs. Denmark 1/20 at 5pm EST on ESPN2

Today's match will be the USA's first since their disappointing showing at the 2006 World Cup. It will also be their first match coached by interim head coach Bob Bradley.

Bradley looks determined, and by determined, I mean terrifying.

He just might scare a good performance outta our boys.

From US Soccer Player's website...

The U.S. and Denmark have met four times in their history, with the United States still in search of their first victory after posting a 0-1-3 record. The teams' last meeting on Jan. 18, 2004, marked the first-ever visit by the U.S. MNT to The Home Depot Center. Despite out-shooting Denmark, 16-4, the U.S. only collected a 1-1 draw after a pair of penalties on either side of halftime delivered each side their only goal of the match.

been looking forward to this game but of all days ESPN2 is notavailable on the TVU network. It's usually there

Got stuck watching CCTV5 from China, Sevilla and Villareal with Chinese commentary. Again I say

I hear we're knotted at ones at the half, post up how's the game and if it's worth grabbing a torrent

3-1 Americans at about 85 min. Danish scored on a pass from the left corner of the 18 to the left corner of the 6 for a header into the left side of the goal. Very nice. Then a penalty for the Americans hit by the goalie but went in. The penalty was for a pull down by the jersey as the American was entering the box. Americans second goal pass from close to the goal line inside the box on the right to the middle kicked into the back of the center of the goal at 56.22. American third goal through pass just past the center circle breakaway Kenny Cooper easy shot into the lower right corner of the goal at 79.26.

Thumbs up Re: USA vs. Denmark 1/20 at 5pm EST on ESPN2

Great performance from our boys!

Bradley's face tells the whole story. He went from this...

To this...

They gave Man Of The Match to Donovan, but for me, MOTM was Justin Mapp.

Coach Bradley is obviously thinking about the future with four young Americans earning their first cap yesterday, and five others earning their second. The second-half goals by Jonathan Bornstein and Kenny Cooper, and the assists from Justin Mapp and Heath Pearce were their first in a U.S. National Team jersey. The goals by Bornstein and Cooper made them the 40th and 41st players in the 95-year history of U.S. Soccer to score in their first game with the national team.

Next up: most hated rival Mexico, on Wed. Feb. 7th at 9PM ET on ESPN2. Game is being played at Univ. of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

More from ussoccer.com...

Following the match with Denmark, the U.S. team will have a few days off and then will get right back to work in advance of the team's 52nd all-time meeting with Mexico. This edition of USA-Mexico is set for the brand new University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., on Feb. 7. The match will be televised live by both ESPN2 and Univision in an expanded two-and-a-half hour window beginning at 9 p.m. ET. Curiously, the USA and Mexico have not met since the United States' authoritative, World Cup-clinching, 2-0 victory back on Sept. 3, 2005, in Columbus, Ohio. That span of 522 days is the longest the two teams have gone between matches since 1993. (The 2006 calendar year marked the first time the two teams have not met since 1992.)

After games against Ecuador (March 25 in Tampa) and Guatemala (March 28 in Frisco, Texas), the United States will compete in two major championships this summer. The three-time champions will first try to defend their title against 11 other teams at the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup, scheduled from June 6-24 in several cities across the United States. Just a few days later, the U.S. will participate in the 2007 Copa America, the regional championship of South America. The 12-team tournament will run from June 26 to July 15 in nine cities across Venezuela. For the United States, the appearance will mark their third entrance into CONMEBOL's signature event.

glad they won but i didn't think anybody really stuck out as doing well.
donovan scored by poor goalkeeping. if he hand his arms bent forward he would have deflected it out.
let's see what happens next

I'll agree that Landon's PK could've been better taken, definitely. But, there was enough pace on it to find net even though the keeper got a hand on it. But yeah, a better keeper would've kept that out.

I'll disagree with you, however, on the other point. I think a couple players did stand out with strong performances. Specifically, Justin Mapp. The way he single handedly beat FOUR defenders to tally the assist on the Bornstein goal impressed the hell outta me. What more could you want? If you were unmoved by that play, you're a really tough customer. Bornstein looked good too. Not just on the tap-in goal, but he was constantly finding ways to sneak into space. I also thought Ricardo Clark did a good job. Not great, because he seemed unable to link up with the forwards, but he was the guy who got taken down in the box after splitting two defenders, which won us the penalty. I will concede that the pairing of EJ and Jaqua up top didn't impress me, but overall our guys were aggressive, well organized, and got the job more than done.

Also, big ups to Bruce Arena for having the flippin' sack to tell it like it is in the commentary booth! Unlike most the guys who call the game in America, Arena didn't pussyfoot around on his opinions on whether a player was fouled or not, whether a player was offside or not, or whether a player made a good or bad decision. I found that super refreshing. I LOVED the bit regarding the yellow card shown to Albright in the first half when Arena said, 'In Germany, that would've been a five-year sentence.'

Mexico will be a tougher test. Really looking forward to that one.

Re: USA vs. Denmark 1/20 at 5pm EST on ESPN2

I've heard the Danes weren't looking completely fit in the second half? Ragerdless, sounds like a good runout for some first timers to the jersey. That's what friendlies are all about at this time of the year/2-3 year cycle.

Mexico's always a must see. I think there may be a level of respect that's increased both ways in the last few years, I fear the carnage that I used to enjoy so much in a US v Mexico match may be a thing of the past. Thankfully I have most of them on tape
