Assuming he makes it past the Viqueens, the Falcons should take Landry. Whether they do that is the question. Maybe the Falcons will feel they need another 1st round bust WR instead.

Hey....I'm not complaining! The Panthers got, I believe, a really good pickup in Carr! In fact, Jake better come back this year slinging the ball much better than he did last year...if not, Carr better learn the system fast, because he'll be in the game!

Re: NFL Draft thoughts

I think JaMarcus Russell will be #1. Besides the obvious physical talent the kid can throw a football. Now he will need a good coach to get him into shape as he does get a little fat during the off season.

All the experts say that Calvin Johnson is by far the best player in this years draft. but we all know that the Raiders do not need another wide receiver.

Rumors are around about the potential trade of J Porter...that may change some things...it could be smoke

Re: NFL Draft thoughts

I predict that if the Raiders pick Russell as #1 they will continue to suck ass for a long time, and that the pick will go down right next to the Chargers pick of Ryan Leaf as one of the worst picks of all time.

Absolutely!

Who knows how good Carr can be with a decent line in front of him every week. Though, I hope we can give him a good young tight end.

Hopefully we'll pick up Greg Olsen in the first round.

Though, 10th in the 1st round, nothing in the 2nd round, and 8th in the third...I'm not sure where we'll be when it's all said and done.

Did I mention that we don't have a 2nd round draft pick next year either?
Your right about the o-line, hopefully they pickup Levi Brown for the whole at left tackle. And in the third maybe Anthony Gonzales from OSU to give Schaub another target. Hopefully they can pick up some defense in the later rounds.

Re: NFL Draft thoughts

I hope the Lions trade the 2nd pick away for a second round pick and a swap of first round picks, and take Gaines Adams lower in the first round.

If we don't trade the pick away, we have to take Calvin Johnson if he's available. What was drafted in previous years is a sunk cost and shouldn't influence passing up the best player in the draft IMO.

Re: NFL Draft thoughts

In preparation for tomorrow here ya go. What your team did right, and what they did wrong. And in the case of the Oakland Raiders and Todd Marinovich, how they are about to repeat history by making Jamarcus Russell the #1 pick.....

Re: NFL Draft thoughts

I am interested to see where Brady Quinn goes. I think Cleveland will take him, but it will interesting to see what happens if they pass on him and take Calvin Johnson or Adrian Peterson. Jamarcus Russell seems to have some promise, but you can never know.

Remember the lessons from past first round draft picks!
1992- #1 Pick: Drew Bledsoe: New England (At least he could take a hit!)
1999- #1 Pick: Tim Couch: Cleveland (I still think his name is an insult in Cleveland)
2001- #1 Pick: Michael Vick: Atlanta (Vick hasn't been a disaster, but compared to #32 pick Drew Brees who would you rather have helming your offense? How about Tom Brady hanging in Round 6 in 2000? He went in #199!)

The draft I believe the biggest irrelevant event in football (outside of a Lions game........just kidding ), but it does do one thing. It does allow fans to keep track of their teams and see how well (or badly) they are progressing. May how far is it to August? When's training camp?

Re: NFL Draft thoughts

I really do think that Oakland will draft Russell. He's got a big arm, but no way do I think hell play in the NFL as long as Quinn. If you are Detroit, how can you pass on Quinn? Jon Kitna is your starter, and your back up is ????

I relly don't care tho, as long as Chris Houston or Aaron Ross is around at #27!
