Since today is a rest day I thought I'd post a little preview of what lies ahead.

Stage 4 - Wednesday, May 16: Salerno - Montevergine Di Mercogliano, 153 km
This stage is sure to result in GC changes, this is the first stage with an appreciable amount of climbing.
I love uphill finishes this should be a fun stage to watch.


Stage 5 - Thursday, May 17: Teano - Frascati, 173 km
Another day for the sprinters.


Stage 6 - Friday, May 18: Tivoli - Spoleto, 177 km
This stage is anything but flat with a nasty climb mid way. A breakaway could really succeed here.


Stage 7 - Saturday, May 19: Spoleto - Scarperia, 254 km
Another day for the sprinters -

Stage 8 - Sunday, May 20: Barberino Di Mugello - Fiorano Modenese, 200 km
A little climbing at the beginning but ample opportunity for the gruppo to reel in any opportunists
by the end.


Stage 9 - Monday, May 21: Reggio nell'Emilia - Lido Di Camaiore, 177 km
Another day for the sprinters- should be fast and flat


Stage 10 - Tuesday, May 22: Lido Di Camaiore - Santuario Nostra Signora Della Guardia, 250 km
Ouch. This is not the Queen stage of this years Giro but is bound to start to define who the pretenders and who
the real contenders will be.


Stage 11 - Wednesday, May 23: Serravalle Scrivia - Pinerolo, 198 km
This is a transitional stage, one last hurrah for the sprinters before the mountains


Stage 12 - Thursday, May 24: Scalenghe - Briançon (Francia), 163 km
Welcome to the first "real" mountain stage. This stage includes the Col d'Izoard, a frequent climb
in the TDF as well. I would expect some sprinters to abandon today especially if the weather is at
all gnarly a not inrequent occurance in the Alps this time of year. GC aspirants can't lose time today
else they may end up with gaps they can't overcome.



Stage 13 - Friday, May 25: Biella - Santuario Di Oropa (Mountain TT), 12.6 km
Love uphill TTS. Imagine the gruppo will be a little fatigued by now not having had a rest since
10 days before.

Stage 14 - Saturday, May 26: Cantù - Bergamo, 192 km
Another fairly brutal day that should server to further reduce the number of pure
sprinters remaining in the race. The day starts with a 26 KM climb...



Stage 15 - Sunday, May 27: Trento - Tre Cime Di Lavaredo, 184 km
This "transitional" stage is likely to define the last week of the Giro.
GC leaders will be going all out to maintain or extend their lead. GC hopefuls
will be presented with another opportunity to grasp for the maglia ROsa.
Any remaining sprinters will probably be having a challenging day indeed.





Rest Day - Monday, May 28
One day to try to recover before the final week of racing. The last 6 stages are by no means easy
and include 2 days of climbing, 2 flattish stages and one ITT prior to getting to Milano.
This race could be great right to the end.
