Re: Giro d'Italia Contest

General classification after stage 4
1 Danilo Di Luca (Ita) Liquigas 14.26.10(no one's pick)
6 Damiano Cunego (Ita) Lampre - Fondital 0.54(Hockydad, qvarsity)
19 Yaroslav Popovych (Ukr) Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team 1.43(mosesbotobl, soulskater)
23 Gilberto Simoni (Ita) Saunier Duval - Prodir 2.00(Stormin)
59 Aitor Hernandez Gutierrez (Spa) Euskaltel - Euskadi 4.00(Ermo)

Mountains classification
Danilo Di Luca
Points classification
Robbie McEwen
Trofeo fast team classification
Liquigas

Turned out to be a bigger day than I expected. Gutierrez better find his legs in a hurry before the
real climbing begins. 4 minutes down after only 4 stages? The other CS GC picks are still within
striking distance of pink still. Here's to hoping that the race remains suspenseful until the end!

Re: Giro d'Italia Contest

Today’s stage was a tough one, GC got shaken up a bit but the positions of the
GC contenders relative to each other is hardly changed. Gutierrez did not
improve but also did not lose any time in what is probably the most demanding
stage so far. Perhaps he's riding himself into form. Tomorrow will likely be another
stage for the sprinters. Sunday's stage starts with a fair bit of climbing and
the danger of a breakaway putting serious time into the GC contenders is very
real since the last 90 KM are almost entirely down hill. In any case Sunday
should be exciting.

General classification after stage 6
1 Marco Pinotti (Ita) T-Mobile Team 23.44.32
2 Hubert Schwab (Swi) Quickstep - Innergetic 3.30
3 Danilo Di Luca (Ita) Liquigas 4.12
4 Franco Pellizotti (Ita) Liquigas 4.38
5 Andrea Noe' (Ita) Liquigas 4.47
6 Vincenzo Nibali (Ita) Liquigas
7 Luis Felipe Laverde Jimenez (Col) Ceramica Panaria - Navigare 4.49
8 Andy Schleck (Lux) Team CSC 5.05
9 Damiano Cunego (Ita) Lampre - Fondital (Hockydad, qvarsity) 5.06
22 Yaroslav Popovych (Ukr) Discovery Channel (mosesbotobl, soulskater) 5.55
26 Gilberto Simoni (Ita) Saunier Duval (Stormin) 6.12
60 Aitor Hernandez Gutierrez (Spa) Euskaltel - Euskadi (ermo) 8.12

Sprint stages are not as much fun as a few years ago.

Re: Giro d'Italia Contest

Thursday, Friday and Saturday should also be "fun".

Agreed the sprints used to be more fun than now.

Bumps in the course are much more appealing, imo. Make 'em feel the PAIN!
