Anyone watching NCAA college softball world series?

I watched alot of softball this weekend. Coached travel many years. My daughter played 1st base and picthed. Once high school finished (her team took 2nd in states) she retired as she had recovered from one shoulder surgery and just had a second.

Anyway - tonight at 8PM is the championship series - best of 3. Tennessee vs Arizona. Should be a great game(s). Tennessee has a 6'3" pitcher who throws 70mph - incredible. 17 K's yesterday. Arizon is tough, but Tennessee is just too tough with this pitcher.

Didn't follow LSU softball any.

LSU baseball blew the big one this year. They literally didn't have anything in the chamber this year: no pitching and no hitting. At least they still have a potentially powerful defensive stance, assuming you can make them stop committing errors every inning.


Rooting for ULL at the moment. Last night was pretty disappointing to lose to Ohio St like that...UL just couldn't seem to get hits when they counted...stranded god knows how many runners. My faith is UL will come back and beat Ohio for the super regional spot tonight...Ohio tossed out everything it had to force this last game...they should be stretched a bit thin now.

My daughter is watching it.

She plays and loves watching it on TV. Its amazing the level of play that they are on.

What a game last night! 10 innings and Arizona hands Tennessee their first loss, 1-0. Also, this was the first run let up by Tennessee.

Championship tonight.

It is pretty exciting though. They can realy pitch that ball.

I actually watched games 2 and 3, very entertaining. My softball knowledge is rather limited, so I have some questions for anyone who knows something about women's college softball.

Do they not have rules about how many innings the pitchers can pitch?

The Arizona pitcher threw something like eight games in seven days, over 1000 pitches! That is amazing. Do they really have only one pitcher? Same with the girl for Tennessee.

Do they not worry about arm problems the way they do in baseball? There has to be some strain on the shoulder and elbow. They're still throwing 60-70 mph.

One more question, it seems like the batters are allowed to run halfway to first base before they make contact with the ball. Do they not have a batter's box like in baseball.

Finally, the Arizona pitcher had a sick change-up. She made a lot of the Tennessee girls look foolish.

1. There is no rukle how many innings a pitcher can pitch. The girl from Arizona threw over 1000 pitches in the series.

2. Every team has more than one pitcher. You ride out the stud through.

3. If your motion is good in fastpitch the only arm problem should be fatigue. There is no muscle breakdown like there is in a baseball throw. Saying that, my daughter just had her 2nd shoulder surgery!

4. The batter box in softball is longer in the front than a baseball batters box....but...the batter cannot leave the box before contact is made. That was actually called a few times but not last night.

5. I love change up pitchers!

Congrats to Arizona - fought off eliminiation three times! Amazing.

She is so tall when she releases the ball she looks like she can tickle under the chin of the batter.
