Anyone have any tips on correcting my slice?

notice, this isn't in the jokes forum!

So I went to the driving range (of which I haven't gone in a while) and rememberd that I have a nasty slice. I can knock the heck out of the ball, but it always slices. Anyways, hoping one of you golfing monkey's can give me a few tips to try when I go back in a few days!

Aim more to the left, way left if needed, if you are right handed. If you slice 50 yards the right, set up 50 yards to the left and it should hit fairway. Then you can call it a controlled slice. Also, you can turn your right hand more under the club with your thumb resting at the back of the grip. Also, put the ball to the front of your stance.

Of course, when you do aim way left, you sill start to hit it straight.

You must have the club face square at impact, and swing from the inside out.

Drink more. If it does not fix the slice you will not really care at all. I have tired this and found it to work. Then again next time i go out i still have the slice. Going to me watching this for ideas.

Hard to fix a slice unless I could see you swing, ball flight will tell you alot, does it start straight and then slice right, or start right and keep goin right, or starts left and comes back right ? lol alot of things can make a ball slice.

Re: Anyone have any tips on correcting my slice?

The best advise I've ever received (because I'm a slicer too) was to aim to hit the inner quadrant of the ball when swinging. In other words, instead of aiming at the three o'clock position on the ball (the obvious square impact area), aim at about 4:30 (kind of what points towards your back foot). ...(9 and 7:30 if you're a lefty)

This may seem like it's going to cause you to push the ball farther right, but in fact a slice is a spin created when you come at the ball from too far outside. By swinging from the inside you'll create a more favorable spin.

Set up and aim straight, just target the inner quadrant at impact. This really straightened me out and gave me better distance to boot.

Re: Anyone have any tips on correcting my slice?

try this:

make sure your feet are parallel to the ball. Then move your right foot back about 3 inches. Swing as you normally would. That might help. Otherwise, it can get real technical.

Re: Anyone have any tips on correcting my slice?

do you have a video of your swing??

there are different kinds of slices depending on whats wrong with your swing..

try making your grip stronger (right handed) left hand V pointer finger and thumb should be making a V pointing over your right shoulder. And make sure you swing the club over your shoulder not your head (like a baseball swing) around your body.

hope this helps..

Re: Anyone have any tips on correcting my slice?

The first couple of times I played this year I had a wicked slice. I had a reverse pivot going on. On set up I just tilted my upper body a little over my right side, shortened my back swing, hit the ball easy trying to sweep it. So far it has worked for me hit the ball straight not as much distance as I was getting, but I was closer to the green, and on the right fairway. Another thing is next time you are at the range place a club at your feet aim at the target hold your stance and place a club across the front of your shoulders and check your alignment. I have tried the aiming more left and my body over corrected and I wound out further right. Good luck it could be worse you could have a hook.

Re: Anyone have any tips on correcting my slice?

Also, when you're swinging with an uneven tempo (coming down on the ball, trying to shatter it for extra distance), the extra force on the downswing puts a slice on it, where the ball will start out fine, but then eventually spin off near the arc of the flight.

Re: Anyone have any tips on correcting my slice?

Don't call it a slice, call it a power fade. Then get it down to a fade. Then you can talk to it.
