I don't know how you get that comparison because they are nothing alike.

Another reason why ESPN is becoming unwatchable. I would never want TO for for a teammate but I sure would take AROD.

I see your point, TO has at least played in a Superbowl

They are both Prima-Donas who are a big source of distraction for their teams. You can make a strong argument that both teams would be better without them.

Re: A-rod All Star Break Stats

I wouldn't say they're "better" without him but they wouldn't be much worse...He has a lot of big hits and game winning hits this year...but the bottom line is with or without him they aren't making the playoffs

I think we will see how much "better" they are without him next year.

I hate the team he plays for but enjoy watching him. I hope he does great the rest of this year and the Yankees lose and don't make the playoffs. It was make me smile from ear to ear.

He is the best player in the game and would be my first pick for a fantasy leauge. But he is a Clubhouse Cancer. The Mariners got better went he went to Texas, and Texas got worse. And you can make an argument that they would have been better off keeping Soriano.

Though this year, if the Yankees do not make the playoffs it is because of pitching and injuries. Mariano Rivera also is not what he used to be. He is the best reliever ever and was almost automatic if you put him in the 8th inning with a lead. THis year he has had his moments, but he is no longer as dominating as he used to be. Though they have had trouble giving him a lead to work with.

Re: A-rod All Star Break Stats

A-Rod, so far, is an easy shoe-in for the AL MVP...again...and the Yankees have been, over the last five years, the most successful team in the second half winning 69.1% of their games...he is only going to get better, just like the Yankees, in the second half...
Also, to those of you who watched the home-run derby, he did implicitly say that nothing makes him happier or prouder than having the great honor to wear the pinstripes....

Just wait until we have our 27th ring...hopefully in 2007[/SIZE]

I totally agree. I don't know what idiot would do that. A-Rod has my respect, and since he's a Yankee, that's hard respect to get from me. He's a damn good player and not so damn cocky and he's not a complete jerk like TO.
By the way, just wait for Pujols. Don't forget how young he is. No one has ever been as successful as him in the start of his carreer as far as hitting goes.

Re: A-rod All Star Break Stats

86 RBIs at the All Star Break with an average well over .300? I'd say that is pretty fricking good, regardless.

Of course, Sammy Sosa was vying with MM to break the home run record a few years ago...and the Cubs still sucked then.

Just to clarify ESPN wasn't comparing A-Rod to TO. It was a "Who's Now" segment that they were doing and in the first round A-Rod was matched up against TO. see below

Throughout July, "SportsCenter" will air "Who's Now," a daily series in which viewers will help ESPN determine the ultimate sports star by considering both on-field success and off-field buzz. Based on fan nominations, ESPN Research selected 32 finalists to square off in a single-elimination bracket. The winner of each matchup will advance based upon fan voting (70 percent) and ESPN's three-person panel (30 percent). In the first round, the panel consists of Michael Wilbon, Kirk Herbstreit and Keyshawn Johnson.
