Sad Day for the NBA

This is a discussion on Sad Day for the NBA within the Sports Forum forums, part of the Everything But Cigars category; Looks like the fix was in. Regardless of how this turns out, it gives professional sports a black eye. http://www.nypost.com/seven/07202007...rray_weiss.htm...

Not a surprise - and wouldn't surprise me in every other sport either. Professional refereeing has become so blatantly bad that this seems like a logical reason - money and greed.

NBA
REFS
Bad Calls

Say it isn't so
So now the Sixers can finally make it to the Championship...

I knew there was a reason !!!
....and no I don't want to hear everyone elses reasons hhahahahahahahaaaha

Thread jack: ON

I have season tickets to the Sixers and I know I am not going to ALL their games.

If anyone in the Philadelphia area ever needs tickets let me know. I am sure we can work something out...

I think the NBA-Mafia story was right next to the story about Soylent Green being made out of people, in the Post.

I respectfully disagree. The strength and stamina of today's athletes along with the speed of the game(s) has made it much more difficult to officiate. With the advent of technology, the observers have the benefit of replays and angles that the officials just don't have. That is not to say they don't make mistakes. They do. But it is an extremely difficult skill/profession. And I am, by no means, saying that they can't be corrupt. They most certainly can. I just don't agree with your blanket statement that professional officiating has become so blatantly bad. (Can you tell I've worked as a referee?)
