iPod replacement battery
I've been having problems with the battery life in my 5th gen. iPod. Has anyone ever replaced their original battery with a third party battery? I found this site: http://www.ipodjuice.com/ and they appear to have a good product. If anyone has any suggestions or feedback, let me know.

No experience with doing it myself, I only just got my first iPod (a 16GB touch, it's awesome), but I've seen others try it, and it can be hard to take the iPod apart without scratching it or anything.

I just did it through Apple and the service was awesome. Got a refurbed iPod back better than new!

If it is out of warranty, you might want to see what Apple charges for that. It is possible that it would be free, but be prepared to pay a few dollars. The battery should not die that soon.

I changed one myself once. Or rather I tried to. I use my ipod to jog with and my sweat had apparently corroded some stuff inside. I went to pull the battery cable plug out and ripped half of the ipod guts out with it. I had to buy a whole new one. If I were to do it again I would take it to an Apple store or send it to them and I would have smiled when they over charged me. Just for the piece of mind that if they screw it up then they will replace it.

Ipodjuice is one of the top two replacement battery vendors.
Newer Technology is also a good one. I'd say if you are mechanically inclined, then opening and replacing the battery is doable. Otherwise, I would send it out to be done for you. Also, OWC (Other World Technology) will replace your battery with a NEW Newer Technology battery for a charge of $39 (not including the battery cost). They work with Newer Tech and are the most highly reputable Apple re-seller and repairer. The $39 charge is well spent if you ask me. Check out the below link for details... OWC Battery Replacement Good luck with whatever you choose! CD P.S. The OWC service is SAME DAY to boot!

Apple was $70 bucks and they sent a refurbed iPod, not the same one back. Worth it IMHO.
