OpenOffice?

Has anyone used Open Office, the free suite of applicatiopns that's supposed to be a free open-source alternative to Microsoft Office? I've been wanting to DL it and test it out but haven't gotten aroudn to it yet. Is it any good?

I used it for years and it is a great product. In many ways it is superior to microsoft office due to its cross platform compatibility. The only application I thought was a little behind from office was the impress application.(think Powerpoint) And since it is open source software people are always working on improving it. If I was not given a copy of office 2007 I would still be using open office.

agreed. great product, great group of folks working on improvements. agreed#2: if it wasn't for preloaded office paid for by others, i would be running it only.

I like Office more, but when the choice is hundreds of dollars worth of Microsoft Office or free OpenOffice, OpenOffice wins.
