Re: Google "Chrome"

My experience I think reflects the truly messed up state of the computing world these days:

At home I use a Mac and love Safari, but use Firefox when the darn websites wont cooperate with Safari.

At work I am forced to use Windblows XP and Internet Exploder 6.0 (the security Nazis say nothing else is as secure) which is the worst browser ever invented.

For my consulting I have to use Windoze Vista and on that machine I have Google Chrome and I absolutely love it. The newest versions are FAST!! and the features mentioned by others below are only a small sample of what is available. I love the way that it keeps each tab in a separate thread and when one locks up or crashes I dont lose the rest. The preview screen for my most commonly used pages saves hours of typing.

I love that the address bar is also the google search bar and it does completion for your typing saving you from fat finger issues.

Re: Google "Chrome"

Been having horrible problems since I updated to IE 8 on XP, I finally gave up and downloaded Google Chrome. Seems to be working MUCH better.

Re: Google "Chrome"

I've got too much stuff on my old xp laptop to mess with installing another flippin' browser. I'm hooked on Firefox, except that pics screw it up for some reason, I switch to IE for photo work.

Re: Google "Chrome"

There must be something wrong with the installs of those who say its slow.

Firefox uses the Gecko rendering engine, which was what netscape used. Its very slow, and uses alot of memory, and has alot of other problems.

Chrome/Safari/Midori are developed from webkit, which is far faster but is still rather buggy, unfortunately. Once webkit performs without flaw it will blaw any gecko based browser out of the water. Chrome is definitely the best looking webkit browser so far.

On another note, ever tried opera? They have their own rendering engine, its neither, and in between. More stable than webkit, faster than gecko. I like it alot, but it doesn't have as good flash support as Firefox. Better for general browsing though, I think.
