Re: XP drivers

I believe this is the program I usually use: SourceForge.net: DriverBackup!

Hope this helps!

Re: XP drivers

prolly a bit late, but, nope.

I assume you intended to copy the folder to a separate device like a thumb drive or burn to a CD?

Simplest thing to do is take note of your hardware and then goto the mfg site and get the newest drivers for the hardware.

If you happen to have something like a Dell, or HP or Compaq or similarly prefabbed box you can usually just goto the mfg website and get all the drivers that apply to your PC in one shot. Then save them all to a thumb drive if you have one, or write them all to a CD.

The most important driver to get first is your network card, once installed you can always surf the web again to get additional drivers if for some reason the one you downloaded didn't work.

The reason you can't just copy a folder is because there are usually registry entries that tell the operating system where all the files are stashed and also may contain configuration settings for the devices. Not all driver files are always saved into system32 or similar system folders.

Hope that helps too
