I just bought the very same model. Love it so far. Very quick and the larger screen makes it much easier to see even in brighter light. They even have 9 months same as cash if interested.

Re: Thinking about a new Dell Laptop. Opinions on Dell Studio 17?

I replaced my 4yr old Dell laptop last fall, and after looking at all the competition I decided to make a brave and more expensive switch...
to a Mac.

Don't mean to start any kind of PC vs. Mac war here, but this is my first Macbook, It was about $400 more expensive than the Dell I was pricing out, but is imo after 8months use, a better system for all around use and the quality and build of the thing is unsurpassed compared to the plasitcy feel of everything else out there. Also, while the operating system is different to use than Windows, I picked it up very quickly, and have been impressed with how well it runs.

When I started my search for a laptop, I wasn't even thinking about a Mac, but after playing on one at an Apple store, and then at Bestbuy, my curiosity was roused.

If price is your bottom line, you can't beat those deals Dell has, but if price is secondary to performance and fun factor, at least consider a macbook.

My wife and I discussed Mac and couldn't justify the price difference. Mac is no longer Mac.

1) There are viruses written that can affect Macs now.
2) Old Mac - Risk Processor. New Mac Inel
3) Old Mac - System X. New Mac Microsoft
4) 36% owned by Bill Gates. That was a General Fault with no Protection.

Do Dell's still require upgrades that are Dell exclusive?

Had a Dell in College and kept having problems. I found then I could only buy Upgrades from Dell, don't know if it has changed or not.

Have a Gateway now as my current laptop off Newegg.com for a steal and I like it a lot

Re: Thinking about a new Dell Laptop. Opinions on Dell Studio 17?

The new Laptop came today. IIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLike it. I ended up with a 2.1Ghz Dell with a 17" HD screen 4GB Ram, 500GB HD, and a back lit keyboard. It even has a built in webcam and am having a ball. I will tell you this much, it is the coolest running laptop I have ever had. I do recommend the Studio 17 for an affordable portable.

Only one problem. Now I need a new case to fit it. LOL
