Verizon FIOS vs Cable

I'll be moving soon and have the option of getting FIOS internet and TV or Comcast Cable. Anyone out there have any opions on how they compare? FIOS is a little more expensive but not much and the internet is faster. But as far as TV quality and number of channels what do you guys think?

FIOS is TV and Internet service provided by Verizon. They run a fiber cable directly to your house. By doing that you get a faster connection and clearer picture. It is not available everywhere as Verizon needs to negotiate it with each individual township.
In my area FIOS is usually cheaper than Comcast. But that might be due to the fact that they are just breaking into the marked. People in Philly are sick of Comcast and look forward to any alternatives.

Fios internet is a little faster than comcast. The cable is pretty much the same though. Everyone I know that uses Fios loves it though. Verizon is really good to their Fios customers.

Yeah I think if I had the choice I would go with Verizon, that is if they carried the NFL Network. We don't even have Verizon phone here in Houston, wireless but not home service. AT&T has satellite service, I don't like satellite so I have Comcast.

Re: Verizon FIOS vs Cable

One thing to keep in mind with cable internet (Comcast) is it is distributed bandwidth. You and everyone else who shares the common equipment are using the same bandwidth. So, if everyone is using the connection your speeds will be slower than say 2 AM when no one is really using it.

I use Comcast and have no issues with the speed. My service is flawless. I think they are too expensive, but the only option I have is DSL.

My folks have FIOS and it screams.

Funny thing is I called them both to get my parents connected. Comcast wanted $800 to run the coax from the pole to their house, which is about 50 yards away. Verizon came out and ditch witched the fiber for free two days after calling.

Oh, but Bryan: If you like online gaming, downloading vids/music, etc., do urself a favor and spring for the FIOS. I've had nothing but crap-tastic bandwidth, disconnections, and lack of customer-service with Comcast. If only I could convince my dad to go with FIOS... =*((((((((((((((((((((((((( -supersadfayse-

+1 and comcast will regulate and get on your case if your downloading to much. FIOS is hands down the best way to go if your anal about how fast your internet is and dont want to be throttled. If your just gonna be browsing the net and checking email just go with the cheaper one.
