Let's not forget that we have BOTLs that are located in Dallas as well, bobaganoosh to name one. This is why I had suggested that we find some place in Austin many weeks ago. I did some research on Citysearch.com and found two that might be promising, Habana House Tobacco Shop and Cigar Palace. Heather, would you mind seeing if they are up to par? I know when I was at University there was a nice cigar shop on the corner of 8th and Colorado or Lavaca, I think. I remember it was very near Hickory Street. It may be gone now, but there have to be other decent B&Ms in Austin. Even hippies smoke...

The Habana House one is private club only (for the lounge) I believe. Heroes and Legacies is $25 for a day pass to the lounge (per person). Cigar Palace I've never heard of... can you send the address?

Our Habana Room @ C.I.G.A.R. is also a private facility. But I know the guy in charge & I pretty sure I can get him to let us all gather any time we need to.

That is the address of the shop downtown. They where opening a lounge something like Robusto's. Thats why I figured it would be a great place to meet.

Habana House is connected to the Ruta Maya coffee house and is a very small inside area, basically just two plush chairs, the register and a walkin humi. Not really conducive to a herf.

Heroes and Legacies is definitely cost prohibitive to herf unless you crash one of their events.

Have any of you tried Cool River. It is a very cigar friendly bar which has a separate cigar room as well. I wouldn't buy cigars there (big time mark up for the service), but they are very open to you bringing your own provided you buy their drinks.

The Habana House is not a private club. It's a small cigar shop with a few chairs, and as Craig pointed out, not really big enough for a herf. Friday mornings, they do however have a great 11:00 AM weekly cigar tasting. And yeah, it's open to the public.

Cool River is a great spot for a smoke and a libation. They have a decent liquor selection, good food, and a lot of space in their very comfy smoking room. I agree with you that their limited cigar stock is VERY pricey, but nobody should have any problem with bringing your own sticks. I'd definitely be down for a herf there.
