Anyone have any interest in a March-ish herf in Galveston? I found a rental that's available, it's big and right on the beach; we'd have it all weekend -- smokin with our toes in the sand! Just gauging whether or not it'd be worth further investigation. Jen and I are in, Bo is in. Let me know if you'd be up for it.

I have the kids over spring break which is starts the weekend Frank was mentioning above. I think my folks are coming in town sometime that week as well. My best bet is just an overnighter at some point. I can't pull off a whole weekend unfortunately.

Last night we were talking the 7th, 8th, and 9th, which still should be god for you, Frank. Spring Break is the 17th-21st, and the 22nd and 23rd is the weekend following, so the rates go up. It's more of just the planning stage right now, but if we could get 8 people or more together, it could be as low as $50/person from Friday morning to Sunday night. We are talking right on the beach...

more than likely Bolivar, but we did find some toward the southern end Galveston that were totally cool, so who knows. The best part of this type of get together is that no one has to drink and drive so we can all get loo-hoo-hoopy and really have some fun. Interest seems to be fairly high, and there are only so many beds, so if you could pay less, would you "crash where you fall"?

Well, I can't take all of the credit, Joe and Jen were the ones that originally came up with the idea of a camping herf. They asked me what I thought and after a few weeks said we should camp on the beach. That turned the discussion to a beach house, and then to craigslist to find one, and here we are today. With that being said, the largest one we found has 3 bedrooms and a fold out couch meaning some would have to sleep in a non-bed. If anyone knows of someone that owns several together, I think that would be our best bet. Or if anyone has rented one before, who did you rent from? Can we talk to them?

No bed= no problem for us. I'm sure air an air mattress will work ok. As far as other suggestions, our photography group had a campout recently at Ft Travis at Bolivar. It's not "on" the beach, and it's more of a park/camping place. But they do have cabanas (no beds or anything). And the shower area looked pretty scary. But it was a fun place to hang out.

I found a really nice place in San Antonio we rented last year
dirt cheap that was REALLY nice, sat on 110 acres and had over a mile of river front access...slept like 12...ended up, with food, being like $75 per person for 10 of us...
