C.I.G.A.R.-Miami & South Beach Blog Day 2
Day two.
We started out @ United Tobacco and met Alan & Rudy (name?). They treated us to a United Tobacco working lunch. We then toured the offices, shipping, receiving & saw a ton of 601 cigars in the cooler. Great guys and they shared a little about new sticks that will be coming out soon. (they swore us to secrecy)
Then a trip to visit with Ernesto Padilla in his office. We smoked future concept cigars and talked about his new factory in Little Havana that is under construction.
He is a brilliant and exciting young gun of the industry to be around. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for him. On thing for sure is it will always be filled with great cigar making.
Then it was off to see our old friend Raphael of Oliveras cigars. We met him at his retail shop for cigars and great Rum. The domino plays were going crazy & the Latin jazz filled the air. He was kind enough to hang out for a couple of hours before he caught a plane to Prague. We learned of his beginning from scrubbing floors to the top of the medical industry & his family’s long ties to the cigar & tobacco business.
He, as are all of the manufactures we have visited, very hospital. He introduced us to many Miami cigar makers that regularly hang out at his place. A regular who’s who.
A great day finished off in south Beach, with cigars, drinks & a great restaurant called Nemo’s and some great jazz.
End of day two, day 3 next
