We are thinking about it. There is a 50/50 chance we will be going. We should know by tomorrow night.

If you know how to fish, I might bring mine. We bought a couple of poles a few years back and tried some surf fishing at Galveston once. But we really don't know what we're doing and it was not sucessful at all.

We don't have a fishing pole, but if y'all are going to do the fishing thing I can get one from my brother or my dad. Let me know.

I know there are a few guys that fish here on the board.

I wish I could be there, but we have a going away party for my wife's friend. You should take your poles. This is the 5 pound 24" speck I caught last weekend:

Beauty. Were you surf fishing when you caught that? Any pointers on bait or tackle? The only time I tried surf fishing, I tried some jigs and other lures. Is bait better for surf fishing the trouts and reds?

For surf it is nice to go after Reds with a weight on the bottom and the bait (cut bait) about 1 foot off the bottom.

The water usually has to be fairly clear for great speckled trout fishing. Live shrimp with a bober works great for trout.

For Flounder drag bottom with mud minnows but it needs to be colder before they start moving. If you can find a cut through you may find hiding flounder.

I usually do not share my secrets but I guess I can here. Try using a Jalapeno Pepper for the Redfish. I once caught one on a piece of SNICKERS bar.

I caught the big one on a five inch live croaker. The rest were caught on live shrimp.
