Ups and downs

Nadia and I put our German Shepherd, Emarus, to sleep yesterday evening. She stopped responding to the antibiotics she was on and was rapidly getting worse. So we made the decision to put her to sleep. She won't be suffering anymore.

Bad news out of the way. My dad is able to walk a few steps on his own now. Mom called and said he's able to walk a little with a cane, so that's some good news. I'll be visiting him over spring break in a couple weeks and hopefully he'll have continued to progress.

Ups and downs. I'm doing ok for the most part, but Nadia's devastated. Some prayers for her would be appreciated.

That is one of the worst downsides of owning pets, when we lose them it is like losing a child. You did what you had too. Give your wife a BIG hug and surprise her with a new puppy and enjoy all the new fun. When you see your dad, challenge him to a cane race, but ask for a head start.

We just had to put down our German shepherd as well. It's hard seeing him at the door everyday for 12 years and then he's not there, so I can understand that. Saying prayers for you guys.

Thanks for the prayers, y'all. Nadia was really surprised and happy to hear that y'all care and really appreciates the prayers. Her dad gave her an early birthday gift and got her a 10 week old German Shepherd puppy. Named her Nikita, Kita for short. Nadia's loving her, and it's helping her cope really well. She still feels down about Em, a little guilty about getting Kita, but doing much better with a new pup to baby and train. And the knowing that y'all are kind enough to think about her and Em really helps a lot too. Going to give dad a call this afternoon to see how he's doing and to tell him y'all have been praying for him and mom as well. Last I told him he was surprised and really thankful. Touched him since none of you have met him but are kind enough to say a prayer for him. Thanks, everyone. Really helps knowing people care.
