For my Mom, please
Last October, my Mom was diagnosed with Celiac Spru (I'm also a celiac). She had lost 30 lbs due to the unfortunate side effects of having celiac and not knowing it before she was diagnosed.

While she strictly follows the dietary restrictions, she has continued to have very bad problems. Since the problems are the same as the celiac symptoms (I won't describe them here, google is your friend - have a strong stomach), she didn't go back to the specialist until she lost an additional 70lbs.

Last week they took 12 vials of blood, are collecting 12 stool and urine samples, have a CAT scan scheduled and are fighting the insurance company which is neither approving nor denying, just not communicating (calling 4 different US senators today - I don't mess around).

There are many things that this could be, but it can't be the celiac according to her doctor (a celiac specialist in Dallas) as she has that under control.

While it is very unlikely to be something simple, that's what we are praying for. We hope that this first round of tests gives us definitive results and that we don't have to do a second, highly invasive, diagnostic step.

My Mom is one of my best friends. If I could change places with her, I would in a heart beat. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. We hope to know what she is facing by the 8th or 9th.
