Will Carter
Webmeister, Mongo, Larry and I and all the good people that frequent Charlie's Tobacco here in Charlotte, lost a good friend this last week. Will Carter passed away on Nov. 23. I had only recently come to know Will through Mike and the guys at Charlie's and he was a helluva guy I quickly learned. He worked for ESPN, so he was a total sports nut (a Yankees fan too, unfortunately
 ). I often wore my Red Sox cap into Charlie's just because I knew Will would have something to say about it! He was a funny guy who always had some quip or joke that made us all smile and he was as generous as they come. When I mentioned that I was looking for a new job, he jumped in and offered to help out if he could even though he had only recently met me. I know from all the people that knew him they would say Will was a great man. It was an honor to get to know Will and I will miss not getting to know him even better.Will, here's one for you man, we will miss you. CD

I should have posted something before now, but quite frankly I have been in a funk since I heard about this last week.
Will Carter was to Charlie's Cigars what Norm was to Cheers. Will would light up the room when he walked in to a round of greetings from everyone in the shop. He was a genuine BOTL in every sense of the word - always willing to help out others, share his wisdom, and add to whatever topic was being discussed. There were so many stories, and we have so many fond memories of our brother recently taken from us so suddenly. The place just doesn't seem the same without him there. You are deeply missed Will - this one is for you! |
