Smoke one for my mom
Twenty years ago today my mom was diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia. When she was diagnosed she was told the average person diagnosed with CML only lived for approximately ten years. Well, she didn't pay much attention to these numbers and has out-lived all of her doctors expectations. She has never gone into full remission, but she is able to keep her leukemia under control with medication. Over the years, this medication has taken a toll on her physically, but she has never given up and always maintains a good attitude about life. In fact, she often volunteers to help other cancer patients who are having difficulties dealing with their condition.
Just wanted to share this with everyone and say how proud I am of my mom for "living strong".

Your Mother sounds like a wonderful woman. I pray that she will continue to have the strength to keep fighting and never gice up. It is a great thing that she volunteers for others. I will smoke one for her tonight!!! CJ

Russ, I would be honored to smoke a cigar in your Mother's honor. A person with such strength, commitment and courage like that, humbles me. Please give your Mom my best wishes - she truly is an inspiration to the rest of us mere mortals. I can also tell that that type of "fabric" and fortitude was passed on to her son. I know you had a tough year yourself Russ and I am sure that your strength had a good deal to do with your Mom. I wish your whole family many, many more years together in happiness. Cheers to you!

Wow, that is AWESOME news. I love it when the docs tell you that you have only x amount of time left. I think if you dwell on it, you will only have that much time left. Glad she stayed positive, it seemed to work. People don't realize how much your brain can affect your healthy, both good and bad.
