My grandma-3/17/08
My aunt called me a little while ago to let me know my grandma passed away in her sleep early this morning. She was in pretty bad shape as she had smoked cigarettes for probably 60 years of her life before she quit smoking cold turkey in November. I had just been up to visit them 2 weeks ago and talked to her on the phone Thursday night. Some of my fondest memories growing up was working on their farm and getting to come in for lunch or dinner and eating some of the best food I've ever eaten in my life. She was quite involved in all of our lives growing up and was always a joy to talk to.
Granted, I'm luckier than most that at 33 years old, I had 3 of my 4 grandparents still living up until this morning. My dad passed away January 20th after a 6 year battle with cancer and I knew that 2008 was very likely going to be a bad year knowing that both of my grandparents on my mom's side was rapidly declining, my dad was dying from cancer, and my mom appears to be going through issues with brain damage from lack of oxygen in November. I just see my grandpa giving up on his will to live at this point now.

Sorry to here of your loss. I'm 35 and lost my dad 5 yrs ago and we had to my Grandma in a home 1yr ago. So i feel gor you. I will smoke today stick in Her honor. I will lift up a prayer for you family.

I'm sorry for you loss, my last granmother passed about 14 years ago but I lost my dad this past August. Remember the best times with them and forget any pain..

Squid® offers as much condolences as it's possible to give... My father dies last October, and my mother did herself in to join him a week later... Believe Squid! You'll survive! Hopefully the pain will lessen after a bit of time passes...
