I moved to Texas on 21 March of this year after 8 long years away from home. On 27 March 2008, my dad had a heart attack and passed away. It was sudden, but we'd been expecting him to go for a while, because of an alcohol/drug addiction battle he'd been fighting. Unfortunately, death was the one thing that could finally cure him.
I'd been hoping to see him now that I was back in TX, since I haven't seen or spoken to him for four years because of his life choices, but I was a little too late. However, I did get the chance to say my final goodbyes to him, and I'll always be grateful for that opportunity.

I haven't had a cigar in close to 6 months, because of re-prioritizing, but I think that I'll have one just for my daddy this week. Regardless of our issues, he was, and always will be, my first true love and I miss him like crazy.

Dad, I hope that you're at peace, finally.

Sorry to hear the news. My dad passed away 3 months ago and it just flat out sucks not having him around. I hated to lose him, but I couldn't stand to watch him suffer from the cancer any longer as he didn't deserve what he went through the past 3 months.
