Daniel Miranda, 38, of Miami Cigar Dies

Posted: Friday, August 22, 2008

Daniel Miranda, who worked alongside his mother and father at Miami Cigar & Co., died this morning after a three-year battle against brain cancer. He was 38 years old.

Miranda was vice president and director of marketing for his family’s Miami-based company, which distributes Don Lino, La Aurora, León Jimenes, Felipe Gregorio and Tatiana cigars. He was active in all aspects of the packaging and marketing of the company’s products, including working with his father on the ornate boxes that contain Don Lino Africa cigars. He was an avid fisherman and passionate traveler.

In a 2007 interview with Cigar Aficionado magazine, Miami Cigar director Nestor Miranda said, “I am blessed with having a great son—he lives for the company.”

Miranda is survived by his wife, Christina; two daughters, Daniela, 8 and Alexandra, 7; his parents, Mariana and Nestor; and his sister, Tatiana.

Miranda’s last wish was that donations be made to the National Brain Tumor Foundation to help find a cure for brain tumors.
