R.I.P. David Santos
My friend David Santos succumbed to brain cancer Saturday morning after a two year battle. I have known David for 30 years and met him just about the same time I met my wife. I think he would most like to be remembered as a trumpeter and jazz musician as that is what gave him the most satisfaction. He played in the Lowell High School band, the jazz band at the University of Lowell, the Air Force Band and acheived a modest amount of commercial success with a jazz/rock band called Mack's Mob who did the regional circuit and even played Vegas.
As the old joke goes: "What does a jazz musician do after he wins the lottery? Plays until he goes broke." and David continued to play as much as possible though he needed to work part/full time in human services to support his primary occupation. One more horn is silenced and I shall miss David and his music. Rob
