What we learned from the test today!
The results: I have been debating how much to leave in this update. It is certainly hard NOT to get my hopes up at what Dr. V. has concluded. But hope is a good thing, so here it goes - - - Based on the results of the MEG and the mapping today, it is very very likely that Simon will be seizure free after this surgery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The MEG shows all seizure activity originating from one specific spot in the left frontal lobe. The mapping confirmed this AND proved that the area that needs to come out has NO language and NO motor functioning! So they can take it out and he will not have any deficit! They can take it all! Dr. V. said he will have right side weakness following surgery that will just be a result of the surgery itself, and will wear off in a few days. The should NOT have any lasting muscle weakness or speech or language problems! Originally, she thought there were tiny, minor seizures originating from the right side, and this surgery would not correct that. However, upon reviewing the pre-surgical EEG and the MEG, they did not see any seizure activity originating from the right side.

The best freaking news we could have hoped for!

I'm so glad that ya'll got such good news Frank. I really hope every thing works out for the best. I sent Simon a greeting and with all the others he will get from the other BOTL's it should lift his spirits. As always Frank my prays go out to you and the family.

Thanks everybody! He is in pre op right now and will be going back soon. Was just told the surgery will take about 4 ours give or take an hour.
